The Vice President of Publisher Development will be instrumental in expanding the company’s publisher network, focusing on previously untapped or underrepresented verticals that align with Mediavine's strategic priorities and goals. This role emphasizes the importance of both quality and quantity in publisher partnerships.Operating within the Revenue department and reporting to the SVP of Publisher Success, the VP of Publisher Development will work to enhance the company's publisher footprint across various programs and offerings. This position is critical for ensuring alignment with our standards for brand safety, traffic, and advertising performance potential, ultimately driving growth and success for Mediavine.Essential Responsibilities:Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to expand publisher partnerships and drive revenue growthPursue opportunities to diversify Mediavine’s publisher portfolio by exploring untapped markets and niche verticals, while expanding the existing ad monetization marketplace to enhance inventory diversity and revenue potentialCultivate and maintain strong relationships with key publisher partners to foster collaboration and maximize mutual benefitsAnalyze industry trends, competitive landscape, and publisher needs to identify new opportunities for partnership and sales enhancementRecruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing sales team, providing ongoing training and support to achieve team and individual sales targetsFoster a culture of continuous improvement by providing regular coaching, feedback, and support to enhance team performance and developmentEstablish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate sales effectiveness, forecast revenue, and ensure targets are metNegotiate contractual terms with publishers to ensure favorable terms and conditions that support business goalsCollaborate with marketing, product, and analytics teams to drive initiatives that support publisher growth and improve service offeringsIdentify and implement best practices in sales processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in publisher development effortsProvide regular reporting to executive leadership on sales progress, challenges, and opportunities within the publisher development landscapeRepresent Mediavine at industry events and conferences to enhance brand visibility and showcase leadership in sustainable publisher developmentAvailability to travel to on-site locations for publisher/industry events, team retreats, leadership meetings and the annual all hands events approximately 30% of the time
Location:Applicants must be based in the United StatesYou Have:10+ years of leadership-level Business Development in the digital publishing and/or technology space, specifically publisher development and the ad tech ecosystemA deep understanding of the online marketing and advertising industries, particularly regarding website monetizationPrior or current experience working remotely with a distributed team of stakeholders and customersStrong proficiency with Google SuiteExperience with communication platforms like SlackExperience working with a CRM such as Hubspot, Salesforce, etc.Versatility in sales and account management, with the ability to adjust and utilize different, specific methods of communication to achieve goalsAbility to set and meet sales targets in coordination with executive and other key stakeholders within the organizationDemonstrated ability with the full sales cycle, processes and the ability to close dealsStrong ability to understand a customer’s needs, and navigate a conversation to present the most useful information with each interactionStrong relationship management skills, with both internal and external contactsStrong written & verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and handle multiple prioritiesExperience building teams of like-minded individuals, and positioning those team members for success, in a remote environmentExperience with the blogging/web publishing community, preferredAvailability to travel to on-site locations for team retreats, leadership meetings and the annual all hands events approximately 30% of the time100% remoteComprehensive benefits including Health, Dental, Vision and 401k matchGenerous paid time offWellness and Home Office PerksUp to 12 weeks of paid Parental LeaveInclusive Family Forming BenefitsProfessional development opportunitiesTravel opportunities for teams, our annual All Hands retreat as well as industry eventMediavine provides equal employment opportunities to applicants and employees.
