Senior Director, Commercial Learning and Development (On-Site)

This role will report to the Vice President, US Sales and Operations. Critical to this role is the strategic direction for the creation of a commercial learning and development program by assessing organizational needs and aligning training strategies to commercial objectives with a near term emphasis on learning solutions for customer facing commercial teams. This individual will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of comprehensive learning solutions to train a new commercial organization to be effective at launch and ensure appropriate ongoing learning curriculum for selling skills, disease, and product.
Responsibilities:
Develop the Learning and Development strategy for the commercial organization
Ensure alignment of learning and development solutions with short-term and long-term business objectives across the organization
Stay abreast of the healthcare ecosystem, access, and marketplace trends to inform strategies and approaches
Partner with Human Resources for on-boarding of commercial colleagues during this rapid growth phase
Identify and build partnerships with vendors to develop new and ongoing training content. Manage RFP process, evaluate progress, and ensure measurable return for project outputs
Integrate an understanding of the business objectives, strategies, and operational procedures of cross-functional partners into learning solutions
Develop, launch, and execute the inaugural sales training curriculum in live and virtual channels
Partner with the Marketing, Patient Services, and Global Value Access and Distribution (GVAD) teams to develop, launch, and execute the inaugural commercial training curriculum for the Sales, Patient Services, and GVAD field teams.
Represent the commercial team as the lead for managing the commercial content in the Learning Management System in partnership with HR
Build and deliver leadership development programs for first and second line field leaders
Understand, apply, and remain current in adult learning principles and advanced facilitation skills to develop and execute the most effective learning programs
Coach others on integrating clinical, product, and selling expertise into the design and execution of learning solutions to maximize development of capabilities to support critical selling strategies
Encourage others to use innovative tools and technology to enhance the learning experience and assists others with adopting new technology solutions
Hire, develop, coach, and retain a team of learning and development colleagues
Navigate comfortably through ambiguous situations and work on a resolution
Operate with integrity and comply with all Company policies and procedures
Overnight travel of 25% may be required
Position will be located in the Greater Philadelphia area (Radnor, PA)
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree a plus with 15+ years of experience
Prior training experience is required and experience in both development and delivery of training in multiple learning platforms (workshop, virtual, e-learning, simulation, gamification) is preferred
Experience in adult learning principles
Experience in developing sales and other commercial field team training curriculum in the pharmaceutical industry for new product launches
Experience in specialty sales and/or rare disease training preferred
Experience developing and delivering leadership development programs for field teams
Experience working with Learning Management Systems
Experience leading and coaching a team of training/learning and development colleagues preferred
Requires at least 12 years of industry and commercial field experience
Field sales leadership experience preferred
Excellent presentation and communication skills as evidenced by ability to develop presentations and communicating with business leaders and marketing audiences
Commitment to effective collaboration with key company stakeholders including sales and marketing leadership
Strong communication skills with the ability to listen actively, express compelling ideas fluently and succinctly, and present effectively
Demonstrated integrity on the job, including an understanding and deep respect of relevant rules and regulations within the biopharma industry
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
