The Communications team is responsible for strategic planning and execution of external, internal, and digital communications efforts across Ares’ global platform. Within Ares, the team works closely with a range of internal partners, including senior leadership, investment professionals, legal, and compliance. This is a high-energy and committed team that values colleagues who are strategic and entrepreneurial thinkers, problem solvers, and intellectually curious, as well as have high professional standards.The Vice President of Content will be responsible for creating thought-provoking, timely, and digestible content (articles, newsletters, videos, and other media) to support Ares’ global thought leadership platform. This individual will partner with teams and leadership across the firm to identify timely and relevant research and insights that can be shared to—and translated for—a broad external audience. This team member will help drive editorial and creative strategy to bring these insights to life in a way that engages clients (across both institutional and wealth channels), shareholders, recruits, and the general public.Primary Functions and Essential Responsibilities
Work alongside members of the Corporate Communications team to refine and guide Ares’ thought leadership content strategy.Define and oversee the production and execution of the firm’s global editorial calendar, identifying key trends across the asset classes in which Ares invests to produce compelling materials that showcase our expertise.Design and produce engaging, high-quality written, audio, and video content, working both independently and in partnership with teams across the Ares platform.Partner with Ares Digital/Social Media, Website, and Creative Solutions teams—and external resources where needed—to bring content to life through dynamic media that can be distributed across relevant Ares channels.Manage any external resources required to execute on content production.Manage content approvals (Legal, Compliance, leadership) and distribution processes.Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (a liberal arts major from a top university).Experience Required:
Applicants should have at least 7-10 years of relevant experience. Experience working at an alternatives investment manager or bank, newsroom, or production company is a plus.General Requirements:Strong creative abilities and/or media background.Proven ability to translate complex financial ideas into engaging, audience-appropriate communications assets.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner.A portfolio of editorial content exhibiting the candidate’s skills and creativity.Experience demonstrating ROI of content / communicating impact to leadership.Ability to source, organize, and lead research projects across investment and functional teams.Ability to work effectively and efficiently in an entrepreneurial environment.Highly motivated self-starter who works well independently.Ability to meet deadlines, project manage multiple workstreams, and work well under pressure.Ability to adopt a collaborative/collegial approach with investment and functional teams.Relationships with external freelancers and production teams is a plus.Reporting Relationships:
Managing Director, Co-Head, Corporate CommunicationsCompensation:The anticipated base salary range for this position is $175,000 - $200,000. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus.
