POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for the strategic transformation of the $110M+ rigid plastic category for McCormick’s Americas region. Develop end-to-end business relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure maximum coordination and strategic approach to rigid plastic category as a key enabler for the regional growth aspiration. Accountable for the creation and implementation of best-in-class sourcing strategy and Supplier Relationship Management that delivers supply assurance, cost effectiveness, innovation speed, financial forecast accuracy, and sustainability targets to create sustained competitive advantage for the business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Own financial forecast process for the rigid plastic category to ensure business has clear visibility of the impact of the category on the P&L and balance sheet (DPO). Create strategies and apply approaches aimed to reduce total cost (especially resins) and volatility to the P&L while guaranteeing cost effectiveness. Responsible for setting standard cost for the category through the annual budget cycle.
Create and implement rigid plastic sourcing strategy through the Sourcing with Purpose/Category Management approach. Manage all Procurement aspects of the $110M+ spend including cost, quality, and service.
Subject matter expert in the business in the rigid plastic area. Responsible for providing market view of the resin markets and all cost elements impacting McCormick’s rigid plastic P&L. Be McCormick’s rigid plastic ambassador and representative in external forums.
Develop a supplier base and the appropriate supplier relationships to make McCormick the customer of choice. Drive base business and innovation pipeline by bringing supplier capabilities including sustainability approaches aligned to McCormick’s Purpose Led Performance aspirations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Accounting or applicable field of study.
8+ years in Purchasing/Supply Chain environment with appropriate business experience.
5+ years project management, execution of or participation in large, multiple or cross-functional projects.
Proven experience and success in leading major cost savings initiatives and cross-functional teams.
Thorough knowledge of industries for assigned categories.
Good understanding of material functionality, material flow, and handling to optimize supply chain effectiveness.
McCormick product and business knowledge.
Knowledge of Company priorities and strategic direction.
Regular assessment and analysis of moderately complex business opportunities.
Ability to deal with diverse and sometimes conflicting priorities.
Sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills are required to exchange complicated information, negotiation, and influence with suppliers and internal business directors.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
MBA - or other equivalent Master's preferred.
CPM or APICS certification.
Experience in managing resin markets and forecasting prices.
Experience in building budget input for the rigid plastics area.
Experience in cross-functional collaboration driving packaging initiatives.
Familiarity with rigid plastic suppliers in North America (Global a plus).
