Agios Pharmaceuticals is seeking a dynamic
Associate Director - Field Operations & Analytics
to join our growing Commercial Operations and Analytics team. This role will support the field sales team by providing field level analytics; designing, implementing, and calculating incentive compensation; constructing field territories; streamlining and enhancing the Veeva CRM platform; and developing actionable dashboards and reports. The Associate Director will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, training, marketing, compliance, legal/regulatory, market access, medical affairs, human resources, and other Commercial Analytics and Operations departments. As Agios continues to grow and evolve, this role will help shape and enhance the company's growing field operational needs.
What you will do:
Statistical Analysis and Modeling:
Applying appropriate statistical techniques, machine learning algorithms, or predictive models to evaluate hypotheses, uncover insights, and address specific business questions.
Interpreting Results and Draw Actionable Insights:
Interpret findings in the context of business problems and assess their implications. Analyze the outcomes of the data analytics to derive insights leading to concrete actions or decisions.
Sales Analytics Support:
Cross-functional analytical support for field operations, data governance, and commercial analytics.
Incentive Compensation Design and Calculation:
Leading the design of field incentive compensation plans, leveraging historical data and advanced analytics to simulate expected payouts. Leading the calculation of incentive compensation while ensuring timely and accurate payout processing.
Designing and Maintaining Field Territory Alignment:
Leading the design of fair and equitable field territories in close collaboration with cross-functional teams. Maintaining territory structures using industry-standard mapping software.
CRM Maintenance and Refinement:
Collaborating closely with field sales to understand workflow needs and requirements for the Veeva CRM platform. Partnering with IT to implement changes.
Field Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
Developing dashboards, KPIs, and reports to monitor the performance of commercial initiatives. Collaborating with HQ and field cross-functional teams to design impactful, insightful reports and providing training to the field team as needed.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and compliance requirements related to claims data analysis and reporting.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
Stay updated with the latest data analytics tools, techniques, and industry trends. Integrating new methodologies to enhance existing processes and continuously improving the quality of insights derived from data.
What you bring:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, mathematics, or related field. Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred.
7+ years within a commercial organization of pharma/biotech
3-5 years in a field operations or incentive compensation role
Rare disease experience strongly preferred.
Prior product launch experience preferred
Proficiency in Tableau, Power BI, or other commonly used tools in data manipulation and creating comprehensive visual presentations.
Proficiency and understanding of Veeva Commercial Suite or other commercial CRM tool (OpenData, Network, CRM, Align, Compass, Link, etc.) is essential.
Proficiency in Alteryx or other data analytics and automation platforms.
Excellent business acumen for understanding commercial operations, marketing strategies, and sales processes within the pharmaceutical industry.
Excellent communication and training skills to effectively convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Understanding of the pharmaceutical landscape, including knowledge of commercial infrastructure, regulatory frameworks, drug development processes, and healthcare systems
Ability to adapt to evolving business needs and technologies and stay updated with the latest advancements in data analytics tools, techniques, and industry trends.
Strong team player who has a partnership and collaboration mindset and is solution-oriented.
Attention to detail and the ability to work independently, within a multi-disciplinary team, and with external partners and vendors.
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Work location for this role is based on employee's individual preference. This role has the ability to be either remote in the US or hybrid in our Cambridge Headquarters. Hybrid schedules vary but are generally less than 3 days per week onsite and hybrid employees are expected to live within commutable distance to our Cambridge Headquarters. Remote employees work entirely from home except for attending Company sponsored events/ meetings. For employees who choose to work remotely, travel may be required for certain company events commensurate to the above job description.
