Executive DirectorPURPOSE STATEMENTThe main purpose and the reason the Rescue Mission exists is to fulfill the great commission as outlined by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19 and 20. The general purpose of all the residential rehabilitation programs is to prepare men to return to the mainstream of our society and become responsible productive members of that society.SUMMARY OF POSITION:Under the direction of the Executive Director, assume responsibility for the fundraising, recruiting, and placing Volunteers in needed positions, public relations, marketing, and partnership development activities pertaining to Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission, Inc. This involves directing, monitoring, and supervising volunteers and fundraising activities, special events, and day-to-day matters to ensure that relationships with financial and volunteer partners are nurtured and advanced.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Create, maintain, and expand a partnership prospect list of individuals, churches, businesses, and foundations. From this list actively solicit volunteers and financial partnerships and funding for the Mission.Plan, design, and accomplish successful results for the Annual Campaign, Capital Campaigns, and Planned to Give with volunteers.Oversee and manage volunteer fundraising events. Evaluate the effectiveness of each event. Add new events.Process donations and acknowledgments on the computer software, the donor tracking system along with the volunteer tracking system.Provide fundraising and volunteer progress and strategies to the Executive Director.Organize and implement the writing of grants and recording of in-kind donations. Maximize opportunities with the Executive Director and Board of Directors in partnership development. Recruit those Volunteers that are gifted in writing grants.Promote the Mission’s name and vision by applying effective marketing and public relations strategies.Able to communicate and demonstrate daily the MURM’s 6 Values (Christ-centered, Servant-leadership, Transformation, Stewardship, Excellence, Honor).Put together with the approval of the ED a Volunteer and Donor video.Maintain professional best practices in areas of document storage, confidentiality, and professional ethics when dealing with donors, volunteers, families, program participants, and guest information.Follow up with financial partners and volunteers on a weekly basis.Qualities and Skills Needed:Four-year college degree and substantial experience that relates to this position.Nonprofit fundraising and development experience. Give examples of having raised funds for an annual campaign and a significant capital campaign.Experience in collaborating with volunteers and placing them in an appropriate position of success within an organization.Competent administratively and very goal-oriented.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficient with Volunteer software or other Donor data software and excellent computer skills.Determined to meet agreed-upon goals and is well organized.Able to see and work within the big picture.Works well with a diverse range of people.Take the initiative and think strategically.Personal and Character Qualities Required:Personal commitment to Jesus Christ and lives under the authority of Scripture.A servant’s heart and compassion for those who are lost and are hurting yet not an enabler.Willing to sign the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission lnc.’s Statement of Faith.A current member or regular attendee of a local church.Able to fully support the core values and philosophy of the ministry held by MURM.Be able and willing to share the Gospel and participate in the ministry activities of the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission.Teachable and a Christ-centered focus.Subscribe to the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission Statement of Faith and Qualifications for Employment upon hire and continuously while employed.Willing to sign and adhere to the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission Employee Handbook.Must exemplify and model Christian behaviors and values and possess elevated levels of ethics, honesty, and character.WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:This position requires frequent interaction with the homeless population. Will interact with individuals who may be intoxicated or under the influence and who may lack socially acceptable personal hygiene, addiction, mental illness, and a myriad of other issues related to homeless populations. Exposure to communicable diseases.May require bending and lifting (up to 50 lbs.) occasionally. Climbing stairs – occasionally. Fingering/fine motor skills – occasionally. Standing for extended periods – occasionally. May require some work outside, in all climates – occasionally.
