The National Multiple Sclerosis Society mobilizes people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. To fulfill this mission, the Society funds cutting-edge research, drives change through advocacy, facilitates professional education, collaborates with MS organizations around the world, and provides programs and services designed to help people with MS and their families move their lives forward. We partner with volunteers to accomplish our work. Staff members engage volunteers through effective and timely communications, facilitating meaningful opportunities, and continually seeking and providing feedback for reciprocal growth and learning.
The Associate Vice President, Development cultivates, influences, manages and engages donors, volunteer fundraisers and corporate sponsors in achieving revenue goals for the chapter. The AVP must be well versed in the scope of the Society’s mission, research, programs and support, advocacy and strategic plan and priorities to be able to leverage our work towards our fundraising goals.
Your responsibilities include:
Drive Revenue Growth - 100%
In collaboration with and under the direction of the President, manage a portfolio of key donor, foundation and corporate relationships to drive revenue.
Identify new and potential donors and corporate partners through building and expanding community connections.
Identify, cultivate, and steward key relationships to grow portfolio (individual donors, fundraisers, teams, corporate and community partners).
Collaborate with Development relationship staff to achieve chapter revenue goals.
Under the direction of the President, ensure the Board of Trustees is contributing to revenue generation by participating in peer-to-peer fundraising events, acquiring corporate sponsorships, leveraging their networks to identify potential major donors, making personal gifts, and securing in-kind donations.
Along with the President and development leadership, actively contribute to and participate in setting the chapter revenue budgets and forecasts.
Actively participate in revenue-generating volunteer committees.
In the event of staffing gaps and position vacancies, assist in and/or lead the execution of fundraising and leadership events.
In partnership with the President and Individual Giving and Leadership Events leadership, identify and develop donor, fundraiser, and corporate acquisition strategies.
In close partnership with Individual Giving team, develop a robust pipeline of donors, volunteer fundraisers and corporate partners.
Your qualifications will include:
Minimum of 6 years demonstrated fundraising and portfolio management.
Proven success in securing major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
Proven success in engaging, cultivating and stewarding peer-to-peer special event volunteer fundraisers, donors, and corporate partners.
Track record of success in fundraising and a passion for building relationships.
Experience in developing and executing donor and corporate acquisition strategies.
Experience in contributing to revenue generation, forecasting and resource development.
Proven ability to meet or exceed revenue goals.
A successful track record of working with high performing staff teams and creating positive workplace environments.
Must possess superior skills in gaining the trust and confidence of diverse stakeholders and communities.
Must demonstrate strong leadership and the ability to lead by influence without specific named authority.
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Constituent Relationship Management (Salesforce a plus) and online meeting tools (Teams and Zoom). Strong public speaking, presentation and writing skills required.
Compensation & Benefits:
The estimated hiring compensation range for this role is
$95,000 - $120,000 annually . Final offers will be based on the candidate's geographic location and consider career experience and may vary from this range due to these and other factors.
