Project Kuiper is seeking an Production Supervisor to lead the high-volume production operations for our communication satellite production. Kuiper’s constellation will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

The Production Supervisor would report directly to the Value Stream Leaders, will be the owner for the Value Streams KPI production performance. The Manager’s responsibilities will include development of a new Lean initiatives improve the daily operations. Safety and product quality are paramount. The Manager and his/her team will work tightly with Manufacturing engineering for process improvements and will leverage our teams in procurement, warehouse, supply chain, and to enable high volume production throughput. The role is based in Redmond or Kirkland, WA.This role will focus on aggressive plans to implement and scale production processes to meet the demands of the Kuiper constellation.

Key job responsibilities- Champion Amazon’s Leadership Principles to drive a culture of ownership, accountability, teamwork, and working hard while having fun.- Create a culture of safety and quality through active engagement and leadership of the technician workforce.- Will have direct reports of 4 production supervisors.- Establish great working relationships with design engineering, quality, EH&S, and supply chain teams.- Drive operational excellence with a combination of data analytics and Lean operations.- Lead implementation of personal performance management standards across multiple Kuiper Value Streams.

A day in the lifeThe Supervisor will lead execution of production rate increases in Kuiper’s new full rate production facility. They will own throughput to plan, and work closely with support teams to troubleshoot bottlenecks and identify improvements. The successful candidate has extensive operations experience and a thorough understanding of aerospace/space hardware manufacturing procedures. The Supervisor will be a visible leader with strong communication skills. The role is highly impactful, and will drive our success as the premier satellite broadband constellation.

About the teamProject Kuiper's mission is to provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Production of Kuiper's develpoment satellites takes place in Redmond, WA, and we have announced a new full-rate production facility in Kirkland, WA that will meet the demands of the full constellation.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience- 5+ years of experience manufacturing of space/aerospace hardware- 3+ years of technical leadership roles in operations- 3+ years people management experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience leading hourly and salaried workforces in a production environment- Experienced with various automated manufacturing processes, including assembly and test methods at component level, subsystem, and system level.- Experienced with handling and tracking systems for continuous material flow to manufacturing lines.- Formal training/certification in Operational Excellence Systems (Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, etc.) a plus- Strong organizational, analytical, root cause analysis and problem solving skills.- Excellent communication and leadership skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $131,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $178,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
