We explicitly seek applications from those who self-identify as coming from historically marginalized populations to enrich and elevate our equity-centered approach to problem-solving.ABOUT THE ROLE:As a team member of the Podshare Housing program, the Resident Coordinator provides essential services and support to transitional age youth (TAY) who live in our brand new collaborative partnership with Podshare to create a unique interim housing program. This position is assigned to the Hollywood Podshare site and monitors site safety and youth services. The Resident Coordinator is responsible for general oversight of the property, cleanliness, safety, and maintenance. Additionally, the Resident Coordinator builds rapport with youth, provides advocacy, coordinates activities/workshops/events, and provides crisis intervention and conflict management. The resident coordinator works closely with their team and other SPY programs to provide the best services to our youth. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the various factors that contribute to youth experiencing homelessness. Specific knowledge or experience related to youth pregnancy and parenting is ideal.WHAT YOU’LL DO:Build relationships with youth from a trauma-informed and harm-reduction perspectiveDaily house and property inspection to maintain curb appeal and resident safetyMaintain adequate inventory and storage of program supplies, including snacks, materials for activities, cleaning supplies, laundry soaps, office supplies, etc.Assist with program intakes and exits, including preparing intake packets, files, the youth’s living space, and supportingCoordinate and ensure meal support in the program (e.g. food pantry donations)Report and document incidents and service requests in a timely mannerResolve and mediate issues, and enforce house rulesProvide crisis management, conflict resolution, and restorative consequencesCoordinate volunteers for programming and event needsCreate and maintain a list of resources and other relevant information in the communityCoordinate and implement life skills trainings, workshops, activities, events, and programming led by staff, community partners or volunteers.Assist in the preparation of required program reportsTrack outcomes, data entry, and assessments as requiredDrive SPY vehicles to transport residents to services and community activitiesAdditional ad-hoc tasks as requiredOther duties as assigned to support the mission of the organizationWHAT YOU’LL NEED:Bachelor’s degree in social science or related field preferred.Related work or lived experience will be strongly considered in place of or in addition to a Bachelor’s degree.1-2 years of experience providing direct services to high-risk transitional age youthWorking knowledge of child and adolescent social, emotional, and cognitive development, trauma informed care, and harm reduction service modelsWork within legal and ethical guidelinesFlexibility with schedule based on program needsCommitment and passion for the mission, vision, values and culture of SPYA self-starter who is prepared to drive innovative solutionsExcellent communication and organizational skillsAn ability to work in a fast paced environment that requires effective collaborationA valid California driver’s license, auto insurance, and the ability to transport youthProficient in Microsoft Office and Google DriveCultural humilityWORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Changes in the environment, such as the office or outdoors.Physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary- up to 15-20 pounds at times.Mandated Reporting Requirements:
The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements:
Effective August 9, 2021, the State Health Officer has mandated that all workers, paid or unpaid, in homeless services organizations must provide proof of vaccination. If eligible for a booster shot, proof of booster is also required. If not fully vaccinated, weekly COVID-19 testing is necessary depending on the program.Driver Positions:
Applicants are required to provide a copy of their driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles, along with a copy of their valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Job offers are contingent upon a satisfactory driving record.NOTE:
All staff members will be considered introductory employees for the first three months of employment and will not be considered regular employees until the conclusion of this period. SPY reserves the right to extend an employee’s introductory period.
