36 Hours (Nights)POSITION SUMMARY:As a Emergency Department Technician in our Emergency Department (ED), you will be a key member of the healthcare team at BMC. Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice, our Emergency Department Technicians provide direct clinical and support services. Using our patient-centered care model and uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, you will participate in the delivery of care to our patients and their families. You will also work cooperatively with all healthcare team members to provide a variety of support services to meet patient, family, and staff needs.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the ED and their families.Clinical services could include, but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and emotional support.Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the ED.Contribute to the efficient operation of the ED, ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.JOB REQUIREMENTS:A high school diploma or GED certificateA current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from either the American Heart Association or American Red CrossAbility to pass clinical competency testingPhysical ability to meet job responsibilitiesBasic math and computer proficiencyOne of the following:One year of previous experience as a Emergency Department Technician in an acute hospital settingCurrently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotationCompleted an approved Emergency Department Technician trainingOne year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)Fluency in another language a plusPrevious medical/surgical experience preferredJOB BENEFITS:Competitive payTuition reimbursement programsHighly subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance optionsHigh provider-to-patient ratios that often exceed state standards for quality and safetySupportive work environment with a focus on training, development, and growthAccess to Pathways, a leadership acceleration program increasing inclusion and diversity at the leadership level across Boston Medical Center Health SystemABOUT THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER:As the largest and busiest provider of trauma and emergency services in New England, BMC is a national model of excellence in emergency medicine.
