Mechanical Engineer V

Insight Global is looking for a Product Design Engineer to join of the world's leading social networking companies. This individual will work with the Reality Labs organization which helps people around the world come together through next generation Augmented, Mixed, and Virtual Reality. The Product Design Engineering team is working on cutting edge technology and needs help from skilled engineers that will help bring ideas to reality. The main function of this Product Design Engineer is to explore, prototype and implement new technologies into functional medium volume prototypes to validate technical and product level functionality, use cases and tech maturity. You will work alongside a diverse and expert XFN team consisting of EE, FW/SW, Audio, Optical engineers.Responsibilities-Lead technology development projects through creation of functional prototypes,development of test methods-Support RnD projects (NTI and NPI) through the design of systems and test vehicles fornew technology introduction studies and technology development.-Design product components and systems for consumer electronics-Design electromechanical and optomechanical systems for device testing and validation-Develop and implement test methods for design validation-Contribute to creation of technical specifications and product definition.-Work closely with XFN team consisting of EE, FW/SW/, Audio, Optical, REL, MfgEngpay range: $75-80/hrWe are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. Required Skills & Experience-Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, related engineering field, or equivalentpractical experience-5+ years of experience designing and shipping components or systems forconsumer electronics or similar mid to high-volume industries.-Strong engineering fundamentals and experience with:-Material science experience with relevant materials for consumer electronics:plastics, metals, insulators, gaskets, thermal interface materials.-Heat transfer-Statics-Dynamics-Structural design-Experience with production drawings-Experience with tolerance analysis-Familiarity with PCBA and FPC design and manufacturing methods.-Experience with various subtractive and additive manufacturing technologies forproduction and prototyping: injection molding, sheet metal, co-molding, machining,CNC-Data analysis and visualization experience (matlab, python, jmp or similar)-Experience building part and assembly prototypes in the shop-Proficient in NX Nice to Have Skills & ExperienceMaster's degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics or related engineering field, or equivalent practical experience7+ years of experience designing components or systems for consumer electronics or similar high volume industries.Experience designing parts with highly cosmetic surfacesMechanism designElectronics cooling and thermal architecture design and testing experienceSensor design experienceOptomechanical experienceDOE and SPC experienceFEA experience (order of importance): statics, dynamics, thermal, fluidsKnowledge of design for reliabilityFamiliarity with reliability and compliance testingKnowledge of electrical design, hardware automation, arduino, etc...
