If this sounds like the choice you want to make, then choose MITRE—and make a difference with us.Department Summary:The Cyber for Identity Trust and Assurance department is comprised of an inspired multi-disciplinary team of researchers and practitioners driving innovation in the department’s technical areas of focus, with particular emphasis in Cryptography, Software Assurance (SWA), Identity, Credential and Access Management (ICAM) and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (AI). We develop and apply scalable approaches for systems and software, evaluate technology and solutions, lead and foster external partnerships within the communities we support, and conduct novel research and development.Roles & Responsibilities:Aiding the Government community in applying cryptography and architecting secure cryptographic systems, software, and protocols.Developing and implementing SWA programs for our sponsors, enabling them to build and maintain assurance in the software they’re deploying.Developing strategies, assessing policy and technical constraints, and facilitating the deployment of ICAM solutions into cloud, on-premises, and tactical environments.Working at the intersection of Cybersecurity and AI on trustworthy approaches to applying AI to cybersecurity applications.Performing research and development, evaluation and testing and operational support for high-priority sponsor mission applications.Apply your technical expertise in system security analysis, assurance, secure coding, and reverse engineering to tackle broad challenges that our sponsors face.Identify opportunities to apply your technical knowledge towards solving complex systems and security engineering problems.Identify synergies between your specialty areas and other cyber security disciplines.Work with commercial tool vendors to understand the current state of the art in software assurance analyses.Basic Qualifications:Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.Must be U.S. citizen with a Secret clearance.Experience with applying security engineering throughout the system engineering lifecycle.Software development experience across the entire lifecycle.Experience with software vulnerabilities and defensive coding practices.A personal desire to help others develop and acquire safe and secure applications.Track record of impactful work.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written/verbal communications skills.This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.Preferred Qualifications:Interest in the application of technology to problem solving.Experience with leading and performing computer security research.Must be comfortable leading a team and coordinating with other reviewers.Must be able to interact effectively with a variety of sponsors.Preference given to qualified candidates with active DoD Top Secret / SCI Clearance.Advanced degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Applied Mathematics, or related technical field of study.This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):
