The USC School of Cinematic Arts is seeking an adjunct faculty member in the field of producing and/or creative development for the entertainment industry. We are looking for a working professional with a primary position as a producer, director, manager, agent, or executive to teach CNTV 475: How to Make It: Mapping Your Way to Success in Showbiz. Through highly interactive classes, students will learn best practices in creating film and television projects, starting from the initial stages of sourcing material all the way through the final stages of marketing and advertising. Additionally, the course will provide insights into succeeding across a myriad of career paths in the entertainment industry. Each week, students will engage with panels of industry insiders, comprised of the talent (writers, directors, producers, and actors), their reps (agents, managers, entertainment lawyers, and publicists), and the buyers (executives from major studios, premium streaming platforms, production companies, and independent financiers).Qualified applicants will have 10+ years of entertainment industry experience and be able to teach students about the industry. Candidates will be well-versed in the landscape of the entertainment industry post-COVID as it relates to talent representation, project development, financing, contracts, and deal-making. Ideal candidates will have familiarity with a broad talent base, offering insight on various industries including theatrical, television, and music.Candidates will be required to call upon contacts with backgrounds in entertainment as it relates to talent representation to foster a unique learning experience and to support lecture topics and the discussion of current events related to the entertainment industry. Prior teaching and/or guest lecturer experience at the university level is preferred.Minimum Education:
Bachelors degree.Preferred Education:
Masters degree, or equivalent experience. Demonstrated teaching experience, ideally at the university level, but inclusive of professional and community seminars, workshops, and mentorships.Minimum Experience:
7-9 years of experience as a filmmaker, producer, agent or manager.Preferred Experience:
10+ years of experience as a filmmaker, producer, agent and/or manager. Demonstrated teaching experience.
