Head of Digital Health Technology & Real World Science
The Head of Digital Health & Real-world Science will set the strategy for establishing digital health technologies and the utilization of real-world data to drive science and innovation across all areas of R&D for relevant project and portfolio activities. In this position, you will drive and execute strategy to build capabilities for digital health technologies to use in R&D e.g. clinical trial technology, digital biomarkers and endpoints, and eCOA. This includes expert advice as well as technology landscaping as well as product development activities related to Digital health Technology.
You will ensure world-class capability to drive the use of robust and cutting-edge analytics with real world clinical omics data. The Head of Digital health technologies and Real-world science will ensure the sustainable success and implementation of product portfolio needs for the Pharmaceutical R&D organization in a highly competitive and rapidly changing market.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities for this role Head of Digital Health & RWS are to:
Responsible for the overall VACC leadership of the function and coordination of cross-functional activities with the objective to drive global Pharmaceuticals R&D activities related to Digital Health technology and real-world science to meet mid- to long-term objectives of the Pharmaceuticals Innovation pipeline and strategic Pharma business needs (excluding the Radiology R&D device portfolio);
Establish and manage holistic trend management to spot risks & opportunity spaces in strategically and R&D relevant areas and translate them into a scouting roadmap. Act as a senior Bayer champion for the optimal and maximal utilization of digital health technologies and real-world data across R&D activities;
Facilitate digital transformation of pharmaceuticals division (both for R&D as well as Commercial) through inclusion of Digital Health technology and real-world science along the R&D value chain;
Build up and maintain R&D Center of Excellence providing the needed in-house expertise for Digital Health technology and real-world science the entire product life cycle. Enhance Bayer’s global leadership and role in enabling the use digital health technologies, and support project teams to make decisions about how to prioritize, integrate, and implement them;
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with identified external partners to drive and implement agreed Digital Health technology and Data science innovations portfolio activities (both pre-and post-market) and strategies for clinical validation;
Develop and maintain state-of-the art product development processes, consistent with business needs, and facilitate regular re-assessment of the process and change management in a way consistent with business needs and full regulatory compliance;
Together with the respective business functions evaluate, incorporate, and partner on new technology platforms and product portfolio opportunities outside of Bayer in the area of Digital Health technology and Data science innovations and drives and manages respective alliances;
Embed compliance as fundamental business principle within the organization including product development governance as needed;

WHO YOU ARE
Required Qualifications:
University degree of MD or equivalent;
Strong affinity for real world analytics, trends, innovation, technology and digital health technologies;
Extensive experience in a natural or a computational science or another adjacent scientific discipline (e.g., physics, bioinformatics, cheminformatics, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry or biology, or a related field);
Relevant experience with Pharmaceutical and/or Medical Device development in industry positions;
In depth knowledge and experience with the Pharmaceutical as well as Medical Device and Digital Health Technology clinical and regulatory environments, especially in the EU and US;
Understanding of digital health technologies, and relevant compliance, regulatory and legal requirements. Experience in setting up frameworks for consistent, accurate, evidence-based assessment of digital health technologies;
Strong understanding of different technology domains (infrastructure, architecture, analytics applications) in relation to Real-world data/Real-world evidence;
Strong aptitude to set a vision for data capture, data analysis, and clinical data insights generation in the fields of Digital health and DS Innovation;
International and intercultural experience and ability to work effectively in multicultural environments
Willingness and ability to travel as business dictates;

Preferred Qualifications:
University degree of M.D. and/or in engineering / science discipline or equivalent;
15 years of progressive professional experience in the management of digital health or health informatics or real-world analytics at global programs, including at least 10 years' experience providing senior level advice and guidance to senior management/decision makers.
