The Tarling-Vallim lab in the Division of Cardiology is recruiting for an Assistant Project Scientist position. This position is intended for collaborative research working on bile acid metabolism and cardiovascular biology. The Tarling/Vallim labs have pioneered the detection of bile acids in different tissues and sub-cellular compartments and the use of AAV-CRISPR/Cas9 to target bile acid enzymes in vivo.Job responsibilities include supporting the PI in the design and execution of funded projects, including preparation of atherosclerotic aortas, bile acid extracts, and conducting CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing studies using animal models. Responsibilities also include assisting the PI in study design, day-to-day tasks related to project management, data analysis, manuscript preparation and submission, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, as well as junior postdoctoral fellows within this group.Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Biosciences, Biochemistry, or a closely related field is required. Candidates must have experience in liquid and gas chromatography mass spectrometry, bile acid extraction, in vivo CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, dissection and quantification of atherosclerotic lesions, and have conducted pre-clinical animal studies.Shared Values:
