Our work environment is extraordinary and being honored as one of the 2024 Zweig Best Firms to Work For exemplifies our appreciation and respect for our dedicated staff.About the role, Your ImpactBaxter & Woodman is seeking a Municipal Services Project Manager in our Municipal Services Department.What your day-to-day will look likeProvide project management for key community projects.Prepare written reports as required by local municipality.Work with municipal staff to evaluate and develop engineering solutions and capital improvement projects.Act as a capital improvement project manager and perform tasks as requested by the municipal staff.Where required, serve as staff to local municipality at the municipal offices.Provide on-site construction inspection services where required for municipal projects.Act as a management and capital projects resource.Respond proactively to project inquiries from municipal staff and officials, developers, designers, and property owners.Assist with preparation, documentation, and improvement of processes and procedures.Assist with inter-governmental agreement and preparation of municipal budgets.Review development plans for compliance with local requirements, including stormwater management, grading, sanitary sewers, water lines, and transportation aspects.Assess the need for permits from other agencies.Assess impacts to on-site and adjacent private and public facilities.Provide recommendations for improving on-site or adjacent facilities in conjunction with the development reviews.Prepare written development review reports; communicate with municipal staff, developers, and designers.Assist in the preparation of Utility Rate Studies.Assist in the preparation of Utility Reporting as required by the EPA.Assist in the preparation of Grant Applications and funding programs.Develop exhibits necessary for municipal funding applications.Education/Certification RequirementsBachelor’s degree in civil engineering.Professional engineering license or the ability to obtain one within 24 months preferred.Must-haves, what you will bring4+ years' experience working for municipal governments or development projects requiring municipal permits.Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical municipal staff, officials, and residents.Ability to work cooperatively with developers, designers, and outside permit agencies.Knowledge of basic principles and experience with stormwater management, water distribution, and wastewater collection systems.Knowledge of basic principles and experience with transportation facilities, including parking, roadway design, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and accessibility requirements.Experience in site and subdivision development design and review, and site construction inspection is preferred.Ability to manage and review work done by less-experienced reviewers.Ability to work with local government staff and officials.Prior experience developing grants or municipal funding applications is desired.Ability to travel throughout Northeastern Illinois (own transportation).CompensationThe pay range for this role is $101,920 - $137,280. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.You matter!
