Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Operations provides strategic leadership and overall management of all activities in the Operations Departments for two locations, including Warehousing, Transportation, Compliance, Procurement, Safety, and Facilities. This position focuses on executing day-to-day goals and ensures short- and long-term results that comply with Second Harvest’s Mission, measures performance against objectives and evaluates and utilizes the organization’s capacity to deliver outstanding services. The Director of Operations will establish and maintain a reputation for operational excellence driven by a culture that promotes efficiency and productivity.End date:

Management:Provide leadership to maintain positive morale, motivate employees, and manage staffing, training, performance, and employee relations.Mentor staff, model excellent customer service, and implement department work plans and budget objectives.Lead new initiatives to increase product distribution to agencies and programs.Distribution & Logistics:Optimize distribution and delivery efficiency to meet food assistance demand.Analyze and improve the distribution network, recommend strategies to enhance service and operational effectiveness.Ensure resource and schedule balance for efficient service and collaboration.Warehouse Operations:Oversee inventory processes, ensuring accuracy and maximizing inventory software usage.Maintain accurate records for received and distributed products.Procurement:Manage product donor relations and oversee purchasing strategies based on product movement, space, and costs.Safety & Compliance:Develop safety programs and ensure a secure, accident-free work environment.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and develop standard operating procedures.Other Duties:Assist with budget management, reporting, and special projects as assigned.Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and experience in a related field.10+ years of management and leadership experience in a warehouse setting.Required: Strong computer skills with proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite applications. Mastery-level experience with inventory management systems.Ability to be onsite at the food bank or designated locations following a disaster event as soon as safely possible to assess facilities, coordinate with local authorities, and initiate emergency food distribution operations. This may include the requirement to stay on-site during an anticipated disaster event like a hurricane.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and time management skills; strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.Ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and personalities.Ability to independently prioritize issues quickly and manage time and resources appropriately.Ability to identify and implement efficiencies.Demonstrated use of excellent judgment and diplomacy to determine the appropriate course of action in functional, operating, and personnel issues.Ability to foster and maintain a positive working environment, including strong team development.High degree of accuracy.Strong coordination, time management, organization, and documentation skills.Minimum 1-year forklift experience.Minimum 1-year ride-on pallet jack experience.Benefits:
