Position Summary:As Principal Data Analyst on our
Transactability & Availability Analytics team , you'll transform petabyte-scale datasets into strategic insights that ensure millions of customers can find and purchase exactly what they need, however they want it. You'll architect sophisticated analytical solutions with leading technologies and champion data-driven decision making across the organization, while mentoring analysts and driving cross-functional initiatives that directly impact our customers.About Team:Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.What you'll do:Lead initiatives cross-functionally partnering with Product Managers, Business, and Engineering to derive actionable insights and implement data-driven product features.Enhance product decisions through data-driven storytelling, delivering strategic insights and recommendations.Develop business cases for projects with a projected opportunity size or cost savings, translate business requirements into projects, activities, and tasks and align them to overall business KPIs.Functions as a subject matter expert on statistical analysis, design of experiments, analysis methodology, and statistical modeling.Mentor data analysts, assisting in their skill development, problem-solving and understanding of business strategies.Collaborate with a team of Data Analysts and Data Engineers to design, build, test and deploy cutting-edge data analytics solutions at petabyte-scale, impacting millions of customers worldwide.Extract data from a variety of sources using
SQL, BigQuery, Hive, Presto
and transform it to a structure that is relevant to the problem at hand.Conduct complex data analysis using
Python, R and SQL .Use
Tableau, Looker, Power BI
and other visualization tools to communicate complex data insights in an easily understandable manner to various stakeholders.What you'll bring:Expert level knowledge in
SQL
for data extraction:
BigQuery, Hive, Presto .Extensive working experience in programming languages for Data Analysis:
Python, R, SQL .Experience with Visualization tools:
Tableau, Looker, or Power BI .Familiarity with big data processing tools:
Apache Spark, Scala, Airflow .Effective communication skills: Presenting complex data insights in an easily understandable manner to various stakeholders.Initiative and capability to drive change: utilizing data analysis to inform strategic decisions.Project management skills: Ensuring timely and efficient completion of tasks while coordinating with cross-functional teams.Prior experience and knowledge in Retail or Ecommerce.Familiarity with
