Wheatleigh, a distinguished member of the Leading Hotels of the World collection located in the Berkshires, is renowned for providing unparalleled luxury, exquisite dining, and exceptional service to our guests. We are now seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Wine Manager to join our award-winning team and oversee our extensive wine program, including creating wine pairings for our fine dining restaurant, Sage & Sparrow, opening soon in October 2023.As the Wine Manager, you will play a pivotal role in curating an exceptional wine experience for our guests. You will be responsible for selecting and sourcing an extensive wine list, maintaining our wine cellar, and ensuring that our wine service meets the highest standards of excellence. Additionally, you will collaborate with our Executive Chef and culinary team to create wine pairings that enhance the overall dining experience.Responsibilities
Active floor management 4-5 nights a week.Curate and manage an extensive wine list that complements our dining offerings and aligns with our hotel's standards of excellence.Collaborate with our culinary team to create wine pairings.Oversee the storage and monthly inventory of wines, ensuring proper cellar management and optimal conditions for aging.Conduct staff training on wine service, including technical service and continuing education.Develop and execute wine events, tastings, and promotions to engage our guests and drive wine sales.Maintain relationships with wine suppliers, negotiate pricing, and manage wine procurement.Stay current with industry trends and wine ratings to make informed purchasing decisions.Ensure compliance with all local and international wine regulations.Qualifications
Certified Sommelier or equivalent wine-related certification is preferred.Extensive knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and vintages from around the world.Proven experience in a similar role within a luxury hotel, fine dining restaurant, or high-end wine establishment.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a diverse wine inventory.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Passion for delivering impeccable service and creating memorable guest experiences.Ability to lead and train a team of service professionals.Proficiency in inventory management software is a plus.How to Apply
