Job Description:
The McConnell Group (TMG) is a health science company that provides a comprehensive selection of professional and technical services and products designed to enhance the success of companies in a rapidly changing market. We have a position for a Sr. Director of Business Operations located in Landover, MD.
The individual will work collaboratively with The McConnell Group's executive officers focusing on the establishment and optimization of day-to-day operations in the company. The position provides an opportunity to be a substantial influencer in the success and sale of the business. All internal managers responsible for delivering services will report to the COO, including:
Accounting and Finance
Contracts Management
Human Resources
Program Administration
Responsibilities include:
Advise and support the Executive team on key planning issues and make recommendations on important business decisions;
Strategic planning and resource allocation;
Direct the development and enhancement of relationships with partners and operational management to optimize cost-effective quality, and timely delivery of products and services to the employee population and our clients;
Ensure quality control of all company output as pertains to customer acquisition and delivery of services;
Establish operational processes/process improvement;
Manage and direct department strategy implementation, in particular regarding budgets and timelines;
Set operational and/or performance goals for each department that are aggressive, achievable, and tied to long-term goals. Ensure all department heads are fully informed of operational objectives;
Monitor department performance against performance goals to ensure that progress is being made;
Conduct regular meetings with staff to ensure that priorities are clear and coordinated. Ensure activities comply with organizational requirements for quality management, legal stipulations, and general duty of care;
Take charge in high-priority crises and in the event when the CEO and President are not available.
Requirements, Qualifications, and Attributes:
The executive team seeks someone who displays strong leadership skills, the ability to make sound judgment, and is resourceful. They are in search of someone with a strong work ethic and the ability to roll up their sleeves to get the job done. The following are critical elements to be successful:
Knowledge:
MBA in Business with 7-10 years of experience working with small and/or medium size businesses
10+ years demonstrated success in a
government contract environment
with P&L responsibility.
Skills and Abilities:
Extensive experience with specific accountability for operational procedures and quality control.
Exceptional proficiency in developing and implementing strategic and financial plans while instilling a culture of accountability across the organization.
Demonstrated ability to effectively drive appropriate financial and operational discipline and processes to the Company.
Ability to lead, plan, and manage change. Must possess strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Strong negotiation and contract proposal skills are essential.
This individual will play a critical role in developing the company and can prepare it for transitioning into a merger or acquisition.
