This position is accountable for all aspects of site operations. Direct reports include Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, with Matrix reporting for Finance, Quality, Human Resources, Environmental Health and Safety. Responsibility for developing and adhering to the annual production budget, participating in new product development and planning, attending and participating in various organizational meetings. The Director of Operations is accountable for supervision of all direct and indirect reports in a way that is beneficial to all associates and helps to establish and maintain a positive relationship with them.Duties and Responsibilities:Continuously improve our Employee Safety systems, identify issues and solve them, and drive for a Zero mindset on employee injuries.Assure our Food Safety and Quality systems are in place, and overdeliver customer expectations.Work with our supply chain team to identify capacity constraints and make sure we can deliver our promise to our customer of 98.5% level customer service every month.Implement our Guenther Performance Systems, our Lean approach to Manufacturing and drive proactive communication throughout every level of the organization.Leverage our GPS approach to lead by example out on the floor and calibrate teams on performance where they work.Deliver 3-5% cost savings annually through identifying and executing projects to improve OEE, reduce product waste, reduce unnecessary costs, etc.Create and drive annual business plans on People, Safety, Quality, Service and Costs.Lead the Plant teams and ensure everyone has clear goals, objectives and expectations on performance, and calibrate the team on results regularly.Monitor daily operation schedules for all departments for accuracy and ensuring daily operational goals are realized.Provide strategic guidance to the organization through participation in cross functional meetings and data analysis on sales trends and cost performance.Create a 3 – 5 year strategic plan for the facility that assures supply and maintains infrastructure needs, and supports the organization's growth strategy.Improve the facility stewardship and asset maintenance.Participate in new product development and planning by researching the cost and ability of producing the product.Lead the implementation of new product implementation for the facility.Adhere to the approved operations annual budget and provide budget updates and adjustments as requested to Vice President.Minimum Job Requirements:Education/Certifications:Bachelors degree required; preference for degrees in Engineering and Food Science.Experience:Must have a minimum of ten years experience in a production facility; with a minimum of three years as a Plant Manager.Prefer experience in the food industry.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Excellent communication and coaching skills.Detail oriented and organized.Proficient computer skills in spreadsheets; databases and word processing.Excellent technical knowledge of equipment, products and processes.Self motivated, results oriented and excellent personal skills.Strong background in HACCP; safety; GMP; SQF and AIB.SAP experience preferred.Must have a hands-on work ethic.Ability to travel up to 10%.Supervisory Responsibilities:Supervisory responsibilities include monitoring the performance of plant management as well as the overall performance of all operations associates. These responsibilities include making final decisions on staffing needs; disciplinary actions; development and evaluation of work objectives and their effectiveness; and realigning operations work and associate’s assignments as necessary.Working Conditions and Physical Effort:Work involves daily exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness, and/or noise.Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards.Position requires the ability to stand; sit at a desk; walking around office and plant; lifting and carrying packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; and reaching, kneeling, crawling and twisting to inspect equipment. Also requires the ability to see; hear; and communicate by utilizing professional etiquette with all levels of associates and with external vendors.Personal protective equipment, as defined by C.H.
