The Choice Program at UMBC provides mentoring and advocacy services to young people throughout the state of Maryland. Position Overview:
The Assistant Director of Community and Career Support manages the successful meeting of service deliverables for a portfolio of up to four service coordinators. Service Coordinators provide direct services that reconnect youth to education, increased job skills, and job placements across Central Maryland, with a priority on new programming in Harford and Anne Arundel Counties.
Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Intensive Advocacy, the Assistant Director of Community and Career Support manages the successful meeting of service deliverables for up to four Service Coordinators. The Assistant Director will support the development of individual staff, ensuring teams are providing high quality programming and meeting grant-funding requirements. This is a mid-level management staff position, where the Assistant Director is a part of the operational leadership team. Periodic driving and occasional direct service activities in the community to support youth and families will be required, as well some work on evenings and weekends.
Specific duties include:
Supervising and supporting the work and development of up to four Service Coordinators (SCs)
Collaborating with direct supervisor to ensure program goals are being met, including outputs and deliverables/outcomes for any applicable grant contracts and partner memorandums of understanding (MOUs)
Maintaining data integrity at all times
Ensuring confidentiality and compliance with funding mandates to meet the Choice Program's high standard of ethical financial stewardship
Building, maintaining, and deepening relationships with external partners through regular, accurate reporting and meetings
Supporting and facilitating onboarding of new staff and AmeriCorps members (ACMs)
Serving as a member of the operational leadership team
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree, two years of direct practice with youth in need of supportive services, six months of supervisory experience, one year experience working in and/or developing partnerships
Note: A Master's degree or 15 graduate level credits in an accredited graduate program may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
A valid driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle is required.
