Zurich is currently looking for a Management Liability Underwriter – Private (Senior or Mid-Senior) to work out of our Chicago office! You will be responsible for utilizing your sales/marketing, relationship building and analytical skills to analyze and underwrite new and renewal business for management liability products (Directors and Officers, Employment Practices Liability, & Fiduciary Liability) for private, nonprofit companies.In this role you will be tasked with building strong relationships with retail distributors (agents and brokers) and our customers in support of business retention and acquisition of new business. Identifying growth opportunities by determining our customer’s insurance needs and providing the right solutions will also be a critical responsibility of this position.Your relationship building and problem-solving expertise will help us drive positive impact with our customers, communities, and each other. Our global footprint and 148 years of experience enables you to develop your skills and put your risk analysis expertise to use while having the opportunity to work with a wide range of Fortune 500 companies.Key Accountabilities of this role:Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.Support the organization's sales culture by being a Help Point for agents, brokers and customers.Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.Qualify accounts to meet with the organization's appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity.Make broker/customer and on-site calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose.This role will be filled at either the Management Liability Underwriter – Private (Senior or Mid-Senior) level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.Basic Qualifications:Management Liability Underwriter – Private Mid-Senior:High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting, Market Facing, Accounting, Banking, or Risk Management areaOR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting SupportOR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting, Accounting, Banking, Risk Management or Market Facing areaOR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaAND Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelinesKnowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal businessExperience with Microsoft OfficeORManagement Liability Underwriter – Private Senior:High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaOR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaAND Knowledge of Microsoft OfficeExperience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal businessExperience working in a team environmentPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s DegreeStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong relationship building skillsMidwest retail broker relationshipsUnderwriting experience directly in Management Liability for private companiesAs a global company, Zurich recognizes the diversity of our workforce as an asset.
