Position Summary:The Development Manager, Events will support Special Olympics Northern California’s mission, vision, initiatives and will be a contributor to the organization’s revenue growth.

In this role the individual will have the opportunity to support and elevate Special Olympics Northern California’s fundraising efforts through corporate, community, law enforcement, and partner channels. Responsible for the success of Special Olympics Northern CA largest fundraising events through the design, coordination, visibility and implementation such as: Golf tournaments, bocce tournament, auctions, bike rides, runs, polar plunges, and other revenue-generating activities.

Responsibilities/ Essential Job Functions:

In partnership with the Development Director, assist in the management of revenue streams and achieving event revenue goals, to include overall event management: budgets, event logistics, volunteer management, and post event wrap-up.

Work with team members to ensure strong logistical coordination for assigned development and program events.

Research, solicit, and manage silent and live auction item procurement for events.

Assist the Development Director with compiling the post-event report, closing out each event with estimated net revenue within one week of completion and final event reconciliation within a month of completion.

Support post-event debriefings, evaluating successful elements and challenges encountered, incorporating that information into the planning and execution of subsequent events.

In partnership with the Development Director, collaborate with the other members of the SONC Development team to research, prepare, and manage event sponsorship decks and proposals for corporate sponsorships.

Work independently on strategic projects and initiatives.

Support the implementation of donor and corporate stewardship plans, designed to retain, and grow donor and partner engagement, community building, and mission investment.

Represent and lead presentations on behalf of Special Olympics Northern California at various meetings and events.

Use networking as a tool to share the organization’s mission and gain supporters and sponsors.

Serve as part of a 16-person Chapter wide Development team, specifically supporting events managed out of the state office in Pleasant Hill.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills, & Experience:

A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated excellence in fundraising, sales, and/or events, including event management.

Previous experience in the customer service industry a plus; strong customer relations skills are required.

Excellent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. Experience with Google Suite and relational databases, especially Salesforce, is a plus.

Excellent organization skills, including an ability to plan time-sensitive projects and manage conflicting priorities effectively.

Must be a self-starter, resourceful, and have a flexible approach to problem solving, while consistently using good judgment and discretion.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Familiarity with non-profit organizations and fundraising principles and practices.

A Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience.

Ability to work occasional nights and weekends based on the events calendar.

Valid driver’s license.

Ability to travel outside of the Bay Area as necessary.

The pay range for this role is:73,000 - 75,000 USD per year (Pleasant Hill)
