Job DescriptionKOMU 8 is looking for a TV Show Director to direct live newscasts and other productions using Ross Production Automation. This position is responsible for coding and punching our locally produced content. The director works closely with news producers to deliver compelling and clean products to our viewers. The ideal candidate will be required to provide technical support for live production and assist with occasional remote productions. We are looking for someone to bring new, forward-thinking production ideas to the table and to help us adapt to a constantly changing viewer base.

KOMU 8 is a full-powered NBC and CW affiliate proudly owned by the University of Missouri serving the Columbia-Jefferson City, MO market. It is the only network affiliated television station with a dual mission of informing the public and serving as the premier training ground for television journalists with the prestigious Missouri School of Journalism.

Responsibilities Include:

Knowledge and experience with the operation and understanding of studio cameras, production switchers, video routers, audio consoles, automation, intercoms, lighting and graphics systems.

Efficiency with Ross Inception, Bitcentral, and Ross Overdrive.

Executing live productions across multiple platforms.

Ability to work with a team of people to achieve clean newscasts.

Have a high attention to detail to find and correct problems before they hit the air.

Must be able to work quickly and efficiently under pressure.

Ability to work with a flexible schedule is a must. May require mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills required.

Responsible for studio maintenance, set up and tear down.

Other duties as assigned.

ShiftWednesday – Sunday, 3:00PM – 11:00PM

Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred QualificationsPrior experience in TV production, Sports production, or Film.

Anticipated Hiring RangeSalary Range: $16.00 - $20.00 (hourly)
