About the role

Reporting directly to the President, the Director of Business Development will drive sales strategy and execution to meet and exceed ambitious growth targets. This dynamic leadership role is centred around fostering strong, long-term customer relationships and coordinating sales activities to unlock new business opportunities.

The Director will spend most of their time engaging directly with customers, managing key accounts, and building trust that develops and fosters business partnerships. With a strong grasp of our product suite, this individual will confidently discuss technical details and collaborate seamlessly with our Solutions Team and Customer Support Hub to generate accurate quotes and deliver top-tier service.

Core elements will include:

Coordinate business development into new markets and sectors and routes to market, identify and qualify new business opportunities.

Lead and plan opportunity campaigns and exhibitions.

Identify channel partnerships and dealer networks for designated value streams and align with Channel Partnerships team on capture plan.

Develop a clear understanding of customer & user requirements, market needs and trends.

Maintain up to date knowledge of market conditions and competitor offerings and activity.

Identify and establish appropriate channels/routes to market.

Manage all commercial aspects of customer quotes, orders and price lists in accordance with company guidelines and standard operating framework.

In conjunction with the Solutions Team (Bid and Proposals) and Engineering teams, prepare professional, well-constructed proposals promoting clear USPs and win themes against customer evaluation criteria.

Understand ‘price to win’ to support winning quotations.

Negotiate successful order capture on price and scope to deliver required margin.

About You

The ideal candidate will bring extensive business development experience in a relevant technology domain, such as C4ISTAR, Tactical Communications, Unmanned Systems, Security & Surveillance, or Wireless Communications. Familiarity with tactical military communications, including MANET mesh technologies and HF/VHF systems, is a strong asset.

Exposure to working with Prime Contractors, End Users, Resellers, and OEMs within the Security and Defence markets is highly valued. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is a high level of technical, commercial, and financial awareness.

To be successful, you will be skilled at adapting your sales and management approach to suit diverse relationships, situations, and cultural settings. Additionally, you will be a proactive self-starter and be able to work effectively with minimal supervision. While educational requirements may vary based on experience and technical proficiency, a degree in a relevant field is preferred.

This role requires travel within the North American geography and will also need to have the ability to obtain security clearance.
