Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.Salary Range

$157,000.00 - $259,200.00

As a member of Enterprise Data & Analytics (ED&A), you’ll be joining a strategic and collaborative team that is passionate about transforming our business and technology capabilities and paving the way for best-in-class technology, data and analytics.As Lead Software Engineer for the Enterprise Artificial Intelligence and Automation team, within the ED&A organization, you will have the opportunity to be an impactful member of a team leading change from day one. You will be a guide for an organization of technologists spread across nearly 20 teams, helping to drive best practices and technology standards across a team building highly visible and impactful strategic technology products. You will be an important component of a growing technology leadership team - looked to as a subject matter expert in engineering. This thought-leader role is focused on both helping more junior members of a technical team and helping to drive and direct strategic initiatives.In this highly-visible and highly-technical role you will be part of a dynamic and impactful leadership team where we will look to you to:Influence and coach a team of software and data engineers revolutionizing the insurance industry through the power of artificial intelligence and automation.Partner closely with product and technology leadership to ensure high quality in a portfolio of ultramodern applications, drawing upon your expertise in the design, build and deployment of these solutions.Ensure technical excellence in large-scale strategic initiatives, indirectly influencing the efforts of teams working on solutions built upon large language models, computer vision, automation, data processing pipelines, containerized hosting on k8s and more.What Will You Do?

Set technical direction and effectively influence across multiple teams to improve the overall quality of engineering practices and skill sets.Align work with business and engineering priorities to realize meaningful impact.Build, maintain, and utilize partnerships ensuring the best use of overall resources.Provide technical leadership, foster a team environment, and provide mentorship and feedback to technical resources.Apply knowledge of current industry trends and techniques to formulate solutions within the context of assigned efforts.Ensure team's work complies with Travelers standards, processes, and protocols.Provide consistent performance feedback and coaching to staff.Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.Perform other duties as assigned.What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

Seven years of programming/development experience plus two years prior technical leadership experience preferred.Past experience working with Python and/or Javascript.Experience working with Kubernetes and AWS services is preferred.Delivery - Advanced delivery skills including the ability to examine and assess the effectiveness of software design strategies and methodologies across an organization.Domain Expertise - Demonstrated track record of domain expertise including the ability to leverage expertise to improve company level capabilities.Problem Solving - Strong problem solver who creates architecture that is particularly robust against single points of failure.Communication - Strong communicator who possesses the ability to describe technology concepts in ways the business can understand.Leadership - Advanced leadership skills including the ability to leverage internal networks across engineering.What is a Must Have?

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or its equivalent in work experience.Five years of programming/development experience.One year of experience of technical leadership.What Is in It for You?
