What is the opportunity?

We are seeking an Associate Director/ Director of Facility & Laboratory Operations to lead all aspects of lab operations and facility management for our growing footprint in the Boston area. We are looking for an experienced individual that is hands-on and proactive with the energy and skills to drive projects and initiatives to completion.

Responsibilities

Responsible for leading a team to oversee the day-to-day operations of US sites. Lead and oversee lab safety, regulatory compliance, and presenting the facility as a professional and appealing place to work and visit.

Manage maintenance, audits, and upkeep of all R&D equipment and building support systems, including but not limited to non-GMP systems for purified water, building HVAC, generators, house gases etc.

Troubleshoot equipment and coordinate major equipment repairs with external vendors appropriately.

Lead R&D renovations to support laboratory growth and ensure optimal space utilization as well as supporting ad hoc projects and cargo shipment management.

Responsible for managing safety protocols and working with safety partners to ensure adherence to all company health, safety, and environmental regulations while maintaining up-to date permitting.

Coordinate facility related communication efforts and vendor management, including contracts, safety, purchase orders and compliance.

What you will need to be successful

B.S. or M.S. in a scientific or engineering discipline with significant (5+ years) experience within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry in roles with increasing responsibility; experience with GLP/GMP facility operation is preferred

Minimum 4 years of lab management experience in the biotech or pharma industry

Excellent understanding of GLP and/or GMP guidelines and regulatory agency requirements

Demonstrated expertise in establishment and management of laboratories in a fast-paced biotech environment.

Knowledge of laboratory safety, OSHA policies, and EPA standards

Aptitude for working with and troubleshooting laboratory equipment, and facility infrastructure.

Self-directed, able to work autonomously and takes ownership of projects.

Ability to work with a wide range of people effectively and efficiently.

Excellent organization and communication skills: write and speak confidently, concisely, and clearly with ability to present to groups and executives

Experience with managing and mentoring a team.

Ability to multi-task, detail focused, effectively lead team to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory agencies.
