This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in the Office of Health Security (OHS). The OHS oversees all medical, public health, and workforce health and safety activities of the DHS. OHS strengthens the Nation's health security through leadership and partnership, a safer and healthier DHS workforce, and optimal care for those entrusted to us.Responsibilities:
The Chief of Staff provides management and administrative support across a range of functions, including technical, medical, and public health operations, finance/budget, human capital, security, facilities, logistics, property accountability, acquisition, privacy/civil rights complaints, continuity, and executive secretariat activities. Specific responsibilities include:Working with executive leadership and senior management to identify, analyze, develop, and implement complex policies and strategies on health security issues.Establishing a long-range process for analyzing and resolving complex health and safety issues.Reviewing, evaluating, and adjudicating clinical and technical documents.Setting public health objectives and translating priorities into actionable initiatives.Representing the Secretary and senior executive leadership at meetings.Providing leadership in emergency preparedness and response activities.Requirements:
This is a Senior Executive Service Level (SES) position. Applicants must demonstrate meeting the Basic Requirements for this series, address each Executive Core Qualification (ECQ), and Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQ) separately.Qualifications:
Basic Requirement: A bachelor's or higher degree in a field related to medical or health sciences. Experience indicative of senior executive level management capability is also required.Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs):
Applicants must address each ECQ separately, demonstrating competencies in leadership and management.Technical Qualifications (TQs):
Candidates must show evidence of managing complex public health programs and providing technical leadership in health security.Education:
Must meet mandatory education requirements and provide transcripts or course lists.Additional Information:
Background investigation required for Top Secret clearance. DHS is committed to a drug-free workplace.
