FL97 is seeking a thoughtful and dynamic Associate Director of Testing to join our team. The individual will help to shape our physical sciences testing efforts through the leadership of an exceptional team, ideation of new scientific campaigns, and establishment of critical capabilities and valuable workflows. The role reports into the Head of R&D.Responsibilities:
Lead a team of scientists and engineers across all testing effortsTroubleshoot workflows and instruments related to testing effortsContribute to the ideation of new scientific campaigns in an effort to bring new materials for sustainability into the worldExecute testing steps in scientific campaignsWork closely with Product Managers to design ideal testing workflows, and clearly communicate testing resultsProvide expertise to Product Managers to support the development of target product profiles, updating testing capabilities as needed to deliver product candidatesCollaborate with Synthesis, Characterization, Software, ML, and Automation/Engineering teams to ensure data flow from all characterization capabilitiesCollaborate with Physical Sciences leadership to identify consultants to support new capability buildsProject management the build of experiment capabilities and their deployment in science campaignsManage testing CAPEX including vendor relationships and budget requestsAssist in testing strategy and planning for new and existing automated and autonomous workflows with deep integration of AIDemonstrate clear and thoughtful communicationQualifications:
Industry experienceExperience with diverse types of functional testing over multiple material typesExperience building and managing high performance teamsExperience building automated systems as part of a teamPreferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of standards like ASTMExperience developing a lead into a candidate or brought a product to marketExperience developing high throughput proxy measurements for functional properties of materialsUnderstanding of regulatory requirementsExperience testing materials in extreme environmentsExperience with material assembly or device integrationExperience with mechanical testingClear decision-maker, rapid learner, with an appetite for speed. Fervent desire to coach a team in that directionValues, communicates, and interacts with others with high levels of transparency and respect with the acumen to engage and influence at all levels within the companyCan balance strategic thinking while executing and getting into the weeds on a regular basisOrganized with strong project management skillsData focused with experience dominated by experimental knowledge and a leaning towards data science and computationLocation:
