The
Crew Supervisor
supervises one or more crews of utility service workers engaged in maintenance or construction work, and is responsible for achieving work objectives. Work is performed under general supervision from the Section Manager with considerable latitude for independent judgment within established policies, methods, and procedures.Essential Functions:Supervises employees including selecting or recommending selection, training, assigning and evaluating work, counseling, disciplining, and/or termination or recommending termination.Assigns specific tasks to field staff in the performance of daily job assignments to ensure completion of the work safely and in a high-quality manner.Ensures the overall work quality and conformance to WSSC Water’s standard procedures for all facets of the work included but not limited to temporary and final site restoration.Prepares daily reports and/or work order documenting personnel time, equipment, and materials utilized in completing given tasks.Initiates actions regarding hiring, transfer, promotion, payroll, leaves, performance and other personnel actions.Receives specific tasks from the Section Manager as to location, type and time schedule for completion of maintenance, repair or construction activities for water distribution or sewage collection systems.Mobilizes crew(s) and determines materials and supplies needed to complete the assigned job.Collects, corrects, and updates site plans, construction plans, and WSSC Water system maps with accurate information gathered in the field.Ensures compliance with safety rules and regulations.Other Functions:Assists with investigation of vehicle accidents, work injuries, and recommends corrective action or discipline.Participates on cross functional teams.Evaluates and makes recommendations of new materials and/or equipment.Serves as Acting Section Manager when so designated.Performs related duties as required.Work Environment And Physical Demands:Work will be primarily conducted in the field.Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:Comprehensive knowledge of the materials, methods and techniques commonly used in the maintenance of water distribution, wastewater collection and meter operations.Knowledge of safety precautions and hazards in work.Knowledge of personnel policies and responsibility for administering the personnel actions.Knowledge of work management and work leadership in planning, assigning, and supervising work crews.Ability to communicate clearly to make verbal and written reports.Ability to use computer equipment and software related to the assignment.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.Minimum Education, Experience Requirements:High School diploma or equivalent.5 years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and/or construction of water distribution and/or sewage collection systems.Additional Requirements:This opportunity is open only to current WSSC Water employees.Possession of a valid driver’s license, with no more than 4 points.Obtain and maintain a Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 1 year of hire or transfer.Obtain and maintain a Class 1 Water Distribution Systems Operator certification within 1 year of hire or transfer.Obtain and maintain a Class 2 Wastewater Collection Systems Operator certification within 2 years of hire or transfer.Employees in this position are designated as emergency personnel.On call availability 24/7.Salary:
