Trauma Nurse Coordinator

This full time position requires five 8-hour days Monday-Friday from 8:00a-4:30p.

Trauma Nurse Coordinator Responsibilities:Assumes direct patient care responsibilities where required to ensure adequate care levels.Serves as a resource person for unit staff, assists staff in identifying patient care needs or problems, and their professional needs, and in selecting suitable problem-solving approaches.Promotes diversity, awareness, and sensitivity among staff.Identifies and participates in resolving patient and staff safety concerns.Participates in developing the philosophy and goals of the department and communicates and interprets them to the unit staff; participates in orientation activities and serves as a change agent.Participates in the orientation of new medical staff to the unit operations when required. Participates as part of the multidisciplinary team in the coordination and delivery of patient care. Promotes compliance with regulatory agencies standards and guidelines.Assists in identifying trauma patients appropriate for the registry.Promotes unity within the shift, between shifts on the unit, and between units within the Patient Care Area; and promotes and maintains effective relationships with patients, families, medical staff, and colleagues from other departments.Identifies staffing needs and processes.Develops and updates standards for supplies and equipment in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.Monitors compliance with cost-containment measures and identifies strategies to improve financial outcomes.Identifies educational opportunities in collaboration with Trauma Service Team, including but not limited to, Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Program Director and conducts in-services as needed on the unit.Supports the progressive development and improvement of clinical performance and customer satisfaction.Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and area. A qualified candidate will possess the following:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.3+ years of progressive experience in nursing in the Trauma.Must have worked in an acute facility within five (5) years of the date of the application.Current RN license to practice nursing in the District of Columbia.Certification in the following is required: TNCC provider, TNCC instructor – can be obtained within 1 year of hire, TCRN Certification preferred.Certified Basic Life Support Instructor required, Advanced Life Support preferred through American Heart Association.
