This is mahi that will improve the health and well-being of everyone in Aotearoa, and we’ve got an opportunity for you to be part of it…The Opportunity | Te whiwhinga mahiWorking closely with the Regional Deputy Chief Executive (DCE) ensures there is consistency, quality and a strategic lens on advice provided within the region and takes a whole-of-Health NZ view when engaging with the DCE. The Deputy Chief Financial Officer will identify financial performance or management issues and raise them with the DCE and/or the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) where required.Accountable for the planning, reporting and meeting of deadlines for the budgeting process. The Deputy CFO will challenge the DCE, to ensure decision making is evidence based and robust, driving a philosophy of fiscal discipline, while also supporting the bottom-up budget setting process.Responsible for the alignment with the Finance Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and organisational leaders. Ensures the regional finance team and other business units and functions are well informed to ensure alignment as a whole. Collaborates with the CFO and other SLT members to ensure reliable, consistent and high-quality financial management practices are adopted across Health NZ.Responsible for identifying emerging financial, or finance related risks and escalate as required.With over 10 years of senior-level experience, you will bring a proven track record of driving superior performance through strategic partnerships with senior leaders. Your extensive financial expertise will be reflected in your ability to manage large-scale forecasting and reporting, ensuring that operational goals align with long-term business objectives. You will navigate complex matrix reporting environments with ease, using your exceptional interpersonal skills to foster strong, collaborative relationships.You will maintain a clear focus on strategic outcomes, offering high-level financial insight and guidance to key stakeholders, including Executive Leaders, Boards, and committees. Your communication, presentation, and influencing abilities will be crucial in delivering critical financial information with clarity and impact. Through your contributions, you will play a significant role in shaping the operational success and strategic direction across the region and for the organisation.Qualified Chartered Accountant from an internationally recognised professional instituteExecutive disposition to communicate, persuade, and expect (as appropriate) the critical role of evidence-based decision makingStrong analytic skillset to provide guidance and intervention when required with business cases, emerging operating issues that are amendable to financial analysis, and resource prioritisation.On-Site PresenceCritical to this role will be the ability to be present and available for the services that you and your staff support on a daily basis.
