JOB TITLE: Event Technician ll
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: CRE/Programs & Facilities
SUPERVISOR: Programs & Facilities Manager
SALARY: $36,135 to $50,589 Annually
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
To perform a variety of semi-skilled plumbing, carpentry, grounds maintenance, custodial tasks, provide supplies and equipment for the performance of duties; and to perform a variety of related tasks as assigned. To oversee duties and give direction to Events Technician I. To direct and supervise use of public facilities (Kiwanis Community House), including public relation skills in administering facility schedule and policies. Scheduling will include weekends, evenings, nights, and some holidays.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary duties will be to monitor, clean and maintain Kiwanis Community House including parking area, restrooms, grounds, and other assigned areas.Greet and welcome renters while monitoring the Kiwanis Community House to assure proper use and prevent abuse while checking for required permits and enforcing rules pertaining to permits; aid with rental set-up and tear-down as directed.Perform maintenance in the repair of offices such as: hang doors, install door closures and hardware; repair damaged drywall, plaster, roofing, and doors; repair or replace window frames and broken windows; paint of walls, trim, etc.; maintain floors to include wood, tile, and carpeted areas using appropriate procedures.Responsible for the installation and maintenance of equipment; make recommendation on purchases of equipment and supplies; inspect building and grounds for repairs needed; perform visual check of heating/air conditioning systems.Troubleshoot various plumbing systems, make necessary repairs, operate variety of plumbing, construction, maintenance equipment and tools.Perform daily custodial duties - vacuuming, spot/shampoo carpets, dust, clean office furniture, clean interior/exterior windows and glass doors, clean/disinfect bathroom areas inside/outside, clean/disinfect kitchen areas, empty and clean trash receptacles inside/outside, replace light bulbs, etc.Work independently and without much supervision.Grounds maintenance includes - mowing, trimming, aerating, fertilizing, and snow removal around Kiwanis Community House; sweep, clear and maintain sidewalks and curb flow lines; employ automated and/or manual means to remove snow and ice.Contact the necessary outside agencies for quotes, bids, and service when it is outside the hands of the technician.Oversee relevant alarm systems.SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Rules, Regulations, and Rental Policies.Public relations and appropriate communication skills in working with the public.Basic methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work.Routine tools and materials used in plumbing, carpentry, and grounds maintenance.Work within confined spaces.Interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude towards the public and staff.Perform a variety of additional related duties and functions as assigned.Must successfully work independently without constant supervision.Become familiar with and operate powered and manual equipment.Understanding and executing written or oral instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Required:
High school diploma or GED with two (2) years' experience in customer service, custodial, plumbing, carpentry, and grounds maintenance.
Preferred
:
Four (4) years of experience in customer service, custodial, plumbing, carpentry, and grounds maintenance. Familiarity with maintenance equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 50 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
Working Environment
:
Position requires irregular hours, nights, weekends, and Holidays, working directly with the Public and the City work force. Exposure to inclement weather. Traveling from site-to-site walking and occasionally pushing or otherwise operating equipment. Exposure to waste, infectious materials, vehicular traffic, noise, dust smoke fumes, and cleaning chemicals.
