Description

Under supervision of the Director of Nursing or Medical Director, provide direct nursing care, infusion therapy and documentation to patients in the Community Oncology Practice. Major functions include: patient assessment, patient evaluation and preparation and administration of chemotherapeutic agents and other intravenous drugs, patient education and psychosocial support.Salary: $87.47/hrQualifications

Required:Possession of current California RN licensePossession of BCLS certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart AssociationPossession of a MSN or BSN degreePossession ofONS/ONCC Chemotherapy ImmunotherapyKnowledge of the Oncology patient population and practice operationsKnowledge of all aspects of infusion therapy in an oncology settingAbility to organize, prioritize, and follow through for multiple patient treatments on an ongoing basisExcellent blood withdrawal and IV skillsKnowledge and skill in Central line CathetersExperience to accurately screen and triage acute patientsKnowledge to recognize abnormal laboratory values and report to PhysiciansSkill in usage of medical diagnostic equipment, as well as working knowledge of instruments and supplies required to perform necessary blood tests and provide infusion therapyAbility to accept direction from leadership and act promptlyDemonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with patients, peers, physicians and administratorsSkill in listening perceptively, conveying awareness and responding to patients and visitors with health concerns using tact and discretionAbility to interact diplomatically and sympathetically with patients, their families, and general public in a high volume, clinical settingSkill in performing with frequent interruptions an/or distractions including the ability to accept equivocal circumstances and respond to changing priorities and deadlinesAbility to maintain equanimity in the face of resistance, indifference, and hostilityAbility to maintain confidentiality and to work with sensitive and confidential information using discretion and judgmentAbility to push, pull or carry 30 pounds or moreWilling and able to travel to a number of different Hem/Onc Community practices within adefined area, providing own means of transportation

Preferred:Possession of OCN certificationPossession of PICC line certificationMinimum of two years of acute care/oncology outpatient experienceWorking knowledge of the UCLA registration system, appointment scheduling system and order entry system
