Programmer Analyst III (Intern)

Environmental Restoration/Waste Management (ERWM)

Hourly Wage: $22.17/Regular/Part-Time

Location: Yakima

Responsible for highly technical system analysis and computer programming work. Responsible for overseeing ER/WM Management network computer system. Responsible for instructing and/or demonstrate to staff a variety of software applications that can be used to meet program needs. Provide operating instruction to staff on work processing applications, database management application and spreadsheet applications. Apply hardware and software criteria in work situations to put together an appropriate configuration. Maintain knowledge of current literature, trends, and developments in the field of modern technology and system analysis.

Examples of Work Performed:

Plans, develops, tests, documents, and maintains computer system and programs.

Evaluates user requests for new or modified programs.

Maintains computer operations to maintain up-to-date operating systems to meet program needs.

Determines feasibility, costs, and establishes program tracking to maintain program computers and server operating system.

Prepares flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate sequence of steps for staff in operating computer systems and program databases.

Maintain organization of network programs and files.

Maintain group and individual security levels to protect privacy on network.

Instruct and demonstrate to users a variety of updated software applications database management and spreadsheet application to meet program needs.

Recreate steps taken by user to locate source of problem and rewrites program to correct errors.

Install, maintain, operate, and troubleshoot program computer systems and applications.

Will assist staff in training, scanning, and database management system.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of micro-computer configurations: disk operating systems, data base, word processing, spreadsheets, and special applications.

Knowledge of the techniques and methodology of computer system analysis.

Knowledge of computer capabilities and programming techniques and system analysis.

Knowledge of the principles of workflow charting and principles and techniques of computer system documentation.

Ability to analyze procedural operations and to organize their component parts into a logical system.

Ability to write machine instructions in one or more languages such as BASIC and C and C++.

Ability to work independently and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.

Ability to teach users technical and special aspects or program software use.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field.

Two years of progressively responsible experience in developing, installing, and maintaining network systems.

Must pass a pre-employment background check.

Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.

Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Preferred Requirements:

Master's degree in computer science or related field.

Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
