**Description**The Principal Automation Engineer or Sr Engineer, Automation will provide expert knowledge with the Allen Bradley troubleshooting skills in Rockwell platform in the PLCs, AVEVA system platform, HMI and AB panel view. Proficient in troubleshooting varies automation communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, PLC, understand the automation integration principal in automation cascade controls between the DCS platform to the packaging equipment end devices. Proficient in electrical troubleshooting with electrical prints in PLC control panel in low and high voltage. You will have working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs and AVEVA System platform (Wonderware), process integrations with MES machine integration. Collaborate with engineers, maintenance tech, manufacturing personnel, support of the production process equipment work methods, troubleshooting techniques and continuous improvement implementation. You will demonstrate proficiency with various technologies and equipment types including the upstream and downstream of the Antigen fermentation processes, CIP/SIP, WFI, Filling and Lyophilization process automation. Provide hands-on technical troubleshooting as well as perform training in the efficient setup and operation of utility equipment including all aspects of mechanical, electrical, electromechanical system such as drive, instruments, controls, servos, robots, vision, conveying manipulating and production handling equipment. Our competitive compensation and benefit programs reflect Boehringer Ingelheim's high regard for our employees.The Principal Engineer Automation position offers a base salary typically between $95,000 to $120,000 and the Sr Engineer, Automation position offers a base salary typically between $75,000 to $95,000 both roles are eligible for full company sponsored health and wellness benefits. These roles are also eligible for a role specific variable or performance-based bonus and shift differential.**Duties & Responsibilities**+ Allen Bradley troubleshooting skills in Rockwell platform in the PLCs, AVEVA system platform, HMI and AB panel view. Proficient in troubleshooting varies automation communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, PLC, understand the automation integration principal in automation cascade controls between the DCS platform to the packaging equipment end devices. Proficient in electrical troubleshooting with electrical prints in PLC control panel in low and high voltage.+ Troubleshoot and implement corrective action where equipment experiences performance issues. Provide off shift and weekend support calls as necessary.+ Identify, determine and seek approvals within guidelines for equipment upgrades to enhance performance and reliability.+ Supports training of production operators and supervisors on best operational practices of electro-mechanical Packaging and Labeling equipment.+ Assists and supports Packaging Engineering projects involving electro-mechanical applications relative to all facets of design, scope, performance parameters, testing and implementation.+ Performs additional duties as assigned by management, to support operations.+ Utilizes CMMS per SOP to assure proper documentation of work.+ Keeps current on new technologies impacting self-knowledge and the equipment.+ Comply with regulatory requirements relative to the EU, FDA, USDA, APHIS, OSHA as well as local and state requirements of our business.+ Ensures particular attention to cGMP requirements for modification of production equipment.+ Follows Company policy and SOP's relative to all aspects of this position including financial, environmental health and safety, training etc.**Requirements**Principal Engineer, Automation Requirements:Relevant Bachelor or Associate degree Computer Science, Engineering, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college is preferred and four (4) years of professional experience; with relevant associate degree, a minimum of six (6) years in engineering or similar discipline; with a HS degree/GED, a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in engineering or similar disciplineSR Engineer, Automation Requirements:In addition to HS degree/GED, a minimum of 7 years experience; With relevant bachelor's degree, a minimum of 2 years experience as described above.Additional requirements include:Experience in troubleshooting various automation communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC); executing automation integration principals and cascading automation controls for operations equipment; and troubleshooting electrical prints in PLC panel in low and high voltage.
