Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior AIX Systems Engineer responsible for supporting and administering IBM POWER systems running AIX and PowerHA clusters. This role involves collaboration across various technical teams, managing on-premises infrastructure, supporting cloud migrations, and maintaining system performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
•Administer and support IBM AIX infrastructure in on-premises datacenters.
•Assist with migrating applications and databases from AIX to AWS cloud.
•Monitor and respond to system alerts, ensuring proactive issue resolution.
•Analyze system performance metrics and events for correlation and trend analysis.
•Manage vendor support tickets and provide root-cause analysis for system issues.
•Maintain patching cadence for AIX and PowerHA, and upgrade firmware for POWER9, POWER10, and HMC hardware.
•Document system infrastructure, procedures, and known issues.
•Manage vendor licensing, hardware, and software inventory.
•Support storage and compute capacity planning for current and future projects.
•Participate in disaster recovery planning and system failover testing.
•Provide level 3 on-call support on a rotational basis.
Required Qualifications
•Minimum of 10 years of experience with IBM POWER, AIX, PowerHA, and NIM.
•Expertise in automating administrative tasks using shell scripts and NIM.
•Comprehensive understanding of LVM and volume group limitations.
•Proven experience in supporting production-level environments.
•Strong scripting skills in KornShell (ksh) and Bash.
•Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
•Experience with Apache, FTP, DNS, LDAP, WebSphere MQ, JBoss JEE, WebLogic, and Oracle Forms.
•Knowledge of Perl scripting.
•Understanding of network concepts and packet capture analysis.
