Title: Sr Advanced Mechanical EngineerPhoenix, AZLong TermDescription:Responsibilities;The Turbomachinery and Heat Exchanger Analysis and Design group within the Mechanical Systems and Components (MS&C) directorate is responsible for the design, development and analysis of Environmental Control System (ECS) turbomachinery and heat exchangers, as well as electric traction drive motors.The successful applicant will be responsible for stress, vibration, and heat transfer analyses. Responsibilities include providing technical expertise on a variety of projects and programs.You will use your expert knowledge of engineering discipline and standards, processes and tools to ensure compliance to customer and program requirements.Other responsibilities include communicating with Project engineering teams, conduction of design reviews, presentations to internal and external customers and contributing to department process improvement initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and analysis using complex finite element methodsProvide technical oversight to global engineering teams across time zonesProvide technical guidance to junior engineersRequirements validationProject and product complianceRisk managementProcess DevelopmentRoot Cause and Corrective ActionYou Must HaveBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace EngineeringMinimum of 5 years of experience performing structural analysis on gas turbine engines and/or other structural, load bearing components and systemsProficiency in linear static, nonlinear/elasto-plastic, fatigue (HCF & LCF), modal, shock, harmonic, random vibration, & crack growth analysesStrong working knowledge of ANSYS finite element software & classical hand calculation methodsWe ValueAbility to mentor othersSignificant experience with new product development in a highly regulated environmentAbility to analyze and solve complex and challenging problemsEffectively operate in a matrix organizationTrack record of successful contribution to products & projectsKeen mindset to envision process improvements and execution of such initiativesExcellent written and oral communication skills
