The Role The Manager of Finance within Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing Lumen's COGS framework, working closely with various departments to drive cost-saving strategies and enhance reporting accuracy. This role is responsible for leading and developing a team to meet business priorities while overseeing the key aspects of cost analysis and reporting. Location This role has been designated as fully remote, US with a preference for applicants from the Denver metro area. The Main Responsibilities + Team Management and Development: Lead and manage a COGS finance team, providing mentorship and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities. Set clear priorities and goals aligned with the organization's overall strategy. + COGS Expense Management: Manage and control both direct and indirect COGS expenses to ensure alignment with financial targets. + Fixed vs. Variable Cost Analysis: Distinguish between fixed and variable costs to provide actionable insights and support cost-saving initiatives. + Collaboration with Stakeholders: Partner with teams from product, engineering, sales, FP&A, and business operations to build an effective mechanism for managing COGS. Drive cross-functional efforts to redesign, streamline, and automate processes. + Financial Insights: Deep dive into COGS data to provide actionable financial insights, focusing on core drivers of gross margin at the product level. + Process Improvement & Automation: Drive continuous improvements in processes, leveraging automation to streamline reconciliation, accruals, and data analysis. + Accurate Reporting & Forecasting: Collaborate with accounting on cost allocation, expense recognition, and accruals while maintaining system-integrated workpapers for accurate monthly and quarterly financial reports. + System & Process Transformation: Spearhead projects aimed at system conversions and process improvements, ensuring alignment with evolving business requirements. + Data Management Expertise: Ensure excellent data management practices by maintaining, organizing, and analyzing large datasets to drive meaningful insights. Develop strategies for accurate and efficient data flow across functions, enabling real-time financial visibility. What We Look For in a Candidate + Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred. + 6-8 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with a focus on COGS management. + Proven experience in managing and developing finance teams. + Strong collaboration skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams. + Excellent data management experience, with proficiency in organizing, analyzing, and automating large datasets. + Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis tools. + Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial software and ERP systems (SAP preferred). + Power BI or Tableau experience is preferred. + Experience with system conversion and process automation. + Ability to communicate financial insights clearly at all levels of the organization. + Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working in ambiguous environments. Compensation The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications. Location Based Pay Ranges $94420 - $125890 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD. $99390 - $132510 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY. $104360 - $139140 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI. $109330 - $145770 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
