Job Description

The Buyer/Planner-Technical is responsible for working within the Engineering organization performing material planning and procurement for prototypes, engineering units, component evaluation, advanced material purchases, and general engineering lab supplies. As a Buyer/Planner, you will play a crucial role in managing the procurement process and ensuring the timely availability of materials and components necessary for our engineering projects. You will collaborate closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to optimize inventory levels, enhance supplier relationships, and drive cost efficiencies

Duties & Responsibilities

Procure materials, manage inventory, an perform other supply chain duties to ensure efficient delivery of product to meet internal delivery schedule.Utilize ERP systems to manage material demands, requisitions, purchase orders, and inventory levels.Collaborate with Engineering and production teams to understand project requirements, production capacity, and timelines.~

Work with sales and contracts during the proposal and order review processes. Supports customer meetings as required.Create bill-of-material cost reports for proposal effort on new development.This involves both internal research and external price quoting.Manage a small Engineering stockroom and kit materials and items needed for assembly and test.Monitor and forecast material requirements to ensure timely availability of products.~

Procure a wide variety of commodities to often tight schedules.Assist in setting up relationships with new suppliers, contractors, and consultants.Negotiate best pricing considering quality and delivery requirements.Create requisitions for tools, fixtures, equipment, and other Engineering related items.Purchase items using corporate credit card issued in your name and auto paid through cloud-based expense management application.~

Coordinate with Project Engineer, Program Management, and Operations to ensure planning meets project dates.Prepare a variety of reports including material status, line-of-balance (LOB), and open order status as required to support materials management function.Manage purchase orders, track shipments, and resolve any issues related to order fulfillment.Inform Project Engineer (or interested parties) of issues or potential issues regarding purchase cost increases, delivery changes, technical and quality problems and advise on possible solutions.~

The Individual

Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Understanding of multi-level bills of material required.Understanding of LOB (Line of Balances) material and operational required.Certified Purchasing Management (CPM) is Preferred.Strong understanding of materials and components used in aerospace/defence manufacturing or related industry.~

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.Ability to have and use corporate credit card issued in your name and auto paid through cloud-based expense management application.Ability to deal with a wide variety of variables in situations where only limited standardizations exists.Ability to be responsive and perform duties with minimal supervision.Ability to manage several objectives and reassign priorities.Ability to learn new software required.Ability to effectively interface with internal departments.Ability to write, review, and edit subcontracts, statements or work, and procurement specifications as assigned.Ability to sit, stand, walk regularly throughout the facility.~

Concise and precise verbal and written communication skills required.Excellent computer skills including in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Outlook, and ERP system required.Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Experience: 6+ years of related procurement, planning, scheduling and/or materials management experience, preferably working in a technical manufacturing environment.

Education: Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred but not required.

Security: U.S. Person required (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident).May be required to obtain a security clearance.
