They retain control of their location data, so that they can combine proprietary data with data from the service without their private information ever leaving their AWS account. Amazon Location provides cost-effective location-based services using high-quality data from global, trusted providers Esri and HERE. With Amazon Location’s affordable data, tracking and geofencing capabilities, and built-in metrics for health monitoring, customers can bring sophisticated location-enabled applications to production quickly, without the high cost of custom development.
Key job responsibilities:We are looking for a software engineer to drive feature development for Amazon Location Service. You will take the lead on end-to-end full stack design, development of our new serverless AWS service. You will deliver a best in class customer experience and operate the service to the highest standards.
A day in the life:Start your day, grab a coffee (or tea), say hi to your team, design and build features to create or enhance applications. Other elements in the day of a SDE include ensuring operational effectiveness of systems, providing on-call support, running and attending meetings including sprint ceremonies and reviewing designs and work products with your team and stakeholders.
About the team:Our team is passionate about location, privacy, and building modern serverless applications. We believe that location is a concept that people need to bring to and embed within their applications. We want to provide an easy way for AWS customers to do this while not compromising on privacy. And we want to do all this while building things in a modern serverless way on the AWS cloud.
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, or 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.Experience programming with at least one software programming language.Experience building distributed cloud systems.Hands-on experience with DevOps tools and practices.Experience maintaining open source codebases.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
