SUMMARYResponsible for project engineering activities in the planning, design, and maintenance of substantial and complex projects. Operates with wide latitude with little review on actions and decisions. Position will work closely with manufacturing, quality and purchasing personnel as well as external suppliers and customers.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDevelops scope of work for engineering studies, process improvements, installations, and for equipment purchases.Reviews and recommends contractor bids and capabilities and the engineering feasibility of project proposals.Prepares, analyzes, selects, modifies, and evaluates engineering designs, drawings, specifications, bill of materials and cost estimates for major repair projects.Conducts on-site inspections of engineering projects to ensure that work is conducted according to sound professional engineering principles and practices and meets applicable engineering design and construction standards.Oversees the design and construction of specific process equipment. After construction may assist in equipment testing, operator training and start-up.Prepares and analyzes Bids from quotes.Conducts studies and determine equipment needs.Selects and recommends equipment in terms of cost and design.Creates and adheres to detailed project schedules/timelines.Prepares Capital Expenditure Requests (CARs)Prepares major Maintenance proposals.Assist in establishing project priorities.Develop cost justifications for improvement projects and corrective actions.Writes specifications.Assists in developing long range plans.Performs research to solve specific design problems.Coordinate outside contractor work activities with maintenance personnel or production personnel as required to minimize impacts to cost and production.Provides support for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.Perform other related duties as assigned.Additional ResponsibilitiesPerforms Complex CalculationsWrite Work InstructionsWork with maintenance craftsmen and operations to resolve equipment failure as required.Function as part of Continuous Improvement Teams as required.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in EngineeringMinimum 5 years of Engineering or Equipment Design ExperienceMinimum of 5 years Project Engineering Experience.High degree of computer proficiency is required (MS Word, Excel, Access).Minitab or other statistical software experience is preferred.SPECIAL SKILLSDemonstrate overall experience in equipment design, mechanical and electrical engineering.Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.Ability to provide design sketches for drafting.Experience in Manufacturing EnvironmentExperience with Lean Manufacturing philosophies.Training in several maintenance disciplines such as hydraulics, welding, machining, controls, etc.Demonstrate the ability to lead people and get results through others.Working knowledge of principles of Theory of Constraints (TOC)Familiar with Management of Change (MOC)The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.Employee training and development.Strong customer orientation.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Commitment to company values.Organizational development.Computer proficiency in Windows environment and software tools that support job responsibilities.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
