Society of Exploration Geophysicists, Boston, Massachusetts, us, 02298
Dewpoint Therapeutics translates condensate biology into much-needed medicines. Biomolecular condensates are transforming our understanding of biology, and our highly collaborative team is at the forefront of efforts to harness this shift for drug discovery. Together, we are leveraging this transformation in understanding of cellular biology to discover and advance breakthrough therapies for the toughest diseases.
We are seeking an exceptional (Associate) Principal Bioinformatics Data Scientist with a strong background in computational biology and human genetics
to drive the further development and application of multi-omics methods core to our cutting-edge drug discovery platform. In this role, you will be working hand-in-hand with bench scientists to translate complex research questions into insightful experiments and analyses and leading the design and execution of bioinformatics workflows that make sense of rich ‘omics data. You’ll be an integral part of a collaborative, cross-functional Data Science and Engineering team, employing diverse methods that span the full R&D process and leverage various data modalities, from imaging and chemical structure to medical records and multi-omics. Key to success in this role is deep expertise in statistical methods for ‘omics data analysis—particularly RNAseq and WGS—combined with the ability to distill complex findings into impactful insights for our biology and chemistry teams. Dewpoint offers competitive salary, great benefits, and amazing perks. You’ll be part of a purpose-driven and supportive startup culture, engaged in continuous learning, and part of an exceptional international team. This role is based at our site in the Seaport area in Boston (though can be hybrid) and reports to the Head of Data Science and Engineering. In this role, the key responsibilities will be... Working with bench science colleagues to translate research questions into appropriate experiments and bioinformatics analyses. Designing and implementing new computational approaches to analyze ‘omics data in ways that address novel questions and challenges arising in our drug discovery research. Running and refining bioinformatics workflows and pipelines for the analysis of ‘omics data, particularly RNAseq and WGS data. Integrating other datasets, such as pathway/network databases, to derive biological insights and get to ‘so what’ results. Synthesizing and communicating results effectively to colleagues, and iteratively refining methods based on their feedback. Owning delivery of bioinformatics workstreams end-to-end, potentially including the mentoring and coaching of junior colleagues. Continually learning and growing as a bioinformatician, identifying emerging methods and tools to implement where appropriate. Contributing to developing bioinformatics and data science understanding, capabilities, and standards across the organization. To do this, you will need… A PhD in a relevant computational field such as Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related discipline. 4+ years of industry experience (in pharma or biotech) post-PhD in computational roles, with demonstrated impact. Proficiency in R and/or Python, with a high level of comfort in data manipulation and analysis. Hands-on research experience in transcriptomics and genomics, with additional experience in proteomics and ChIP-seq data preferred. Expertise in statistical methods for ‘omics data analysis, particularly for RNAseq (e.g., DGE, GSEA, GSVA) and WGS data (e.g., GWAS, PheWAS, e-/p-QTL, variant burden testing), including quality control methods. Experience integrating ‘omics data with pathway/network datasets to draw biologically meaningful insights. Solid understanding of molecular biology principles, ideally within a research or drug discovery setting, with a strong grasp of oncology fundamentals. Outcome-driven approach with the ability to explore alternative methods pragmatically while prioritizing high-impact solutions. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of innovative solutions. Collaborative and communicative style, adept at working with colleagues across varying levels of expertise and seniority. It would be nice but not required to have… Experience working in the cloud (AWS) and with code management tools (Git) in collaborative team environments, including with containers and workflow orchestration tools such as Nextflow. Experience with relevant public datasets, such as TCGA, depmap, UK Biobank etc. Experience training and working with machine learning models. Experience working with knowledge graphs. About Dewpoint Dewpoint Therapeutics is the first company founded to apply the emerging discipline of biomolecular condensates to drug discovery. Dewpoint believes that a vast range of conditions have pathways that are regulated by condensates or arise from the dysfunction of condensates — including cancer, neurodegeneration, and metabolic disease. Dewpoint scientists are working in Boston, MA, and Dresden and Berlin, Germany, to translate condensate biology into treatments for the toughest diseases. Dewpoint Therapeutics is an equal opportunity employer committed to the principles of non-discrimination in the workplace. Candidates will not be discriminated against based on age, race, creed, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, marital status, or any other basis prohibited by federal, state, or local law. Dewpoint Therapeutics has an anti-hate policy in place, along with an active staff-led Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee sponsored by the CEO. Please, no solicitations by agencies.
