Multifamily-Purchasing Manager
. The right candidate will obtain and maintain the best qualified and best-priced products and labor contracts to build apartments. Manage and direct Purchasing Staff.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Manage all aspects of purchasing for the multifamily divisionManage and supervise all Purchasing Staff, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problemsBid architectural plans to subcontractors and vendorsObtain quality work at a competitive priceOversee the hiring of contractors, suppliers, and laborersInterpret architectural drawings and specifications to determine project requirements (specifications)Respond to phone calls from potential new vendors as well as field staffDevelop purchasing and logistic strategies on a division/regional/national levelIdentify alternate sourcing opportunities for cost savings and/or quality enhancementsReport to the National Purchasing Manager on the state of division operations and the impact of purchasingManage and review costs of existing projectsBuild strategic relationships and a network of business contactsConduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the companyAbility to travel overnightSupervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervises 2 or more employeesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree from a four-year college or universityThree to five years related experience and/or trainingAbility to focus under pressure and comfortable meeting tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work with all levels of management and personnelStrong organizational skillsAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applicationsProficiency with MS Office and emailAbility to sit for the majority of an 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
