Job Summary:

The Director of Optical Sales is responsible for the oversight, management, and growth of the Optical Sales division to include some of the most important Key Ophthalmic Accounts, Industrial Safety Accounts and Eye Care Practitioner (ECP) Accounts in the company. These accounts make up the highest percentage of the Retail Division's revenue, and the Director of Optical Sales must build and maintain a strong relationship with these clients. They will be the lead point of contact for all key client matters, anticipate the clients needs, work within the company to ensure deadlines for client are met, and help the client succeed. They will also bring in new business from existing clients or contacts and will develop new relationships with potential clients. The increase in sales is an expectation in this very important role.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

Sales Team Management & Strategy

Manage and guide the daily operations of the Regional Sales Manager(s), Key Account Manager(s), Optical Sales Territory Managers as well as Outside Sales Reps under the guidance of Senior Vice President of Sales.

Own the long-term strategy to ensure Wiley X is optimizing all aspects of distribution through the Optical Sales Channels.

Meet or exceed quarterly sales/new business quota as determined by the Senior Vice President of Sales.

Develop a complete understanding of both normal and key account needs.

Anticipate regular and key account changes and improvements.

Manage communications between all clients and internal teams.

Manage account teams assigned to all regular and key clients.

Client Relationship Management & Strategic Planning

Resolve key client issues and complaints.

Expand relationships and bring in new clients.

Deliver meaningful feedback to the Senior Vice President of Sales to direct product, design, marketing, creative, advertising, accounting, and coordination to ensure the highest quality of services and collateral are being produced and all client needs are met.

Strategically plan to improve client results.

Negotiate contracts with the assistance of the Senior Vice President of Sales with the client and establish a timeline of performance.

Establish and oversee internal budgets with the company and external budgets with the client.

Collaborate with sales team to maximize profit by up-selling or cross-selling collections.

Plan and present reports on account progress, goals, and quarterly initiatives to share with team members, and stakeholders, and use in future case studies or company training.

Meet all client needs and deliverables according to proposed timelines.

Prepare regular reports and presentations on key account performance, market trends, and competitive analysis.

Analyze client data to provide customer relationship management.

Work with the product, design, sales team, creative, advertising, coordination, managers, marketing, and team members from other departments dedicated to the same client account to ensure the highest quality of services and collateral are being produced and all client needs are met.

Work with human resources and is responsible for all staff management including appropriately administering compensation plans, reviews, any disciplinary actions, recruitment, and/or terminations while documenting all related actions comprehensively throughout.

Leadership & Strategic Development

Help develop annual sales forecast with Senior Vice President of Sales.

Plan, manage, coordinate, and execute attendance at strategic trade, distributor, and consumer shows.

Participate with senior-level staff in the development of strategic company plans and goals as well as at regular sales director meetings.

Manage P&L reports for department spend based on provided budget and direction with great ROI.

Able to analyze data and sales statistics and translate results into better solutions.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be a listener, a presenter, and a people-person.

Basic computer skills, and experience with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on superior Excel skills.

Must possess a strong understanding of retail math.

Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to follow through on client contracts.

Ability to manage multiple client accounts effectively.

Proven results in delivering client solutions and meeting sales goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

Five years of previous work experience in optical sales, team-leading experience, key account management, or relevant experience.

Proven history of optimizing revenue within the optical channel.

Physical Requirements:

Lift up to 25 pounds.

Stand for extended periods.

Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

Travel to shows, marketing events, key customer meetings (existing or new), and national sales agencies based on discretion, prioritization, and marketing/sales ROI analysis. (25% - 50% required)
