How will you make your mark?HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT:The Associate Product Manager (APM) is responsible for resource management, strategic planning, tactical planning, and execution for a product portfolio within a larger product category. The APM strives to become the go-to product expert within the organization, developing a deep understanding of the products within the portfolio and competitive products in the marketplace. Key areas of ownership include developing, maintaining, and executing a 3–5-year global product roadmap, supporting new product launches with Sales and Brand Marketing teams, leadership on new product development in collaboration with Engineering and Manufacturing, Sales support on new and existing products, and championing the voice of the consumer within the organization. The APM is expected to develop a detailed understanding of product pricing, costs, category and product line profitability. To drive their business, the APM will demonstrate the ability to identify gaps in the marketplace through competitive analysis and user research and capitalize on these opportunities by working with R&D teams to develop solution-based product proposals.THE DETAILS:Primary Task (40%) – Tactical PlanningCo-develop research plans with Marketing Insights Manager and Business Segment Director, to include VOC and Quantitative SurveysDrive product usability and acceptance, with a focus on the end-to-end customer experience (from product setup and install to product end of life and disposal)Troubleshoot customer issues and coordinate resolution with technical staffSecond Task (45%) – ExecutionDrive projects on schedule and budget to meet internal and external stakeholder expectationsCoordinate with sales staff to meet customer needs regarding quotation and deliverySupport sales team with CMA processExecute portfolio maintenance activities, including SKU rationalization, pricing analysis, and cost managementSupport trade show activitiesSupport the development of marketing tools - including product sheets, sales materials, user manuals, web and digital marketing content, promotional campaigns (print and digital) and application notesDrive continuous-improvement activities for product/category performance including sales, gross margin, yield, cost of goods sold, risk, and return on investmentThird Task (15%) – Strategic Planning and Resource ManagementDevelop and maintain portfolio Global product roadmap with collaboration of North American, European, Asia Pacific, Latin American, and Far East sales and product teamsDevelop business cases and proposals regarding investment and return of a proposed (Phase 0) projectDefine customer requirements and complete the Product Requirements Document (PRD)Co-lead the product development process (PDP) with Product Development/Engineering from ideation to plan to execution and analysisCollect customer and market data to build business cases and provide accurate forecastsDevelop internal proposals for product line enhancements and additions (PDP Phase 0)Identify target markets, segments, applications, and customersMaintain expertise with respect to competitionGather and prioritize input from sales, marketing, customer support and directly from customers and distribution partnersResponsible for assigned product(s) and leads product plan development and execution from concept through sale and distributionBalance internal and external demands with available resources by prioritizing project scope (performance), schedule, and product variable and fixed/capital investment costsDefine the product value proposition and assist marketing with development of marketing and messaging strategiesQUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:Bachelor of Science Degree in related field (business, marketing, finance, engineering) or equivalent experience1-3 years of experience in a business professional role1-3 years of experience in Product Management with a track record of successful product launches preferredPassion for and experience with forestry, garden, agriculture, construction tools or commercial equipment preferredDemonstrated success in user experience, product delivery processes, positioning, product strategy and/or product launchExperience working in a global or multi-national environment preferredAble to complete responsibilities in a timely, professional and quality manner with minimal supervisionSolve problems analytically; search out relevant information and gauge its importance when making decisionsEffective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical termsCreative thinkerCollaborative and effective team player and able to work with teams who are globally dispersedProficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and data management software (SAP preferred)For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Washington, Colorado, Nevada, California, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, Oregon Tool is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
