The Branch Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the branch, ensuring quality customer service while delivering results that align with Apple Bank’s business objectives. This position is responsible for the overall profitability of the branch by partnering with senior management (District Manager & Branch Network Managing Director) to implement strategies/activities to achieve the Bank’s overall goals for the assigned district. The incumbent drives new client acquisition primarily through deposit gathering (retaining & expanding existing banking relationships) and market share growth of the branch and implements sales, as well as business development initiatives that provide value to our customers, always ensuring that ethical sales practices are being adhered to. Additionally, the Branch Manager provides direction to staff regarding operational and regulatory controls, compliance matters, security protocols and how to protect the Bank against monetary loss and reputational harm. The Branch Manager must possess the ability to adapt accordingly to meet challenges in a dynamic industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain a balance of sales, service, and operations objectives.
Oversee daily branch operations and provide comprehensive retail services; participate in daily operational and business development activities.
Meet assigned sales goals by following our business development model and effectively utilizing resources.
Manage account/deposit portfolios of the assigned branch; maintain strong relationships with top customers.
Direct branch human capital activities, including staffing, training, performance appraisals, and salary recommendations.
Keep employees informed of the latest internal policies and procedures.
Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss Bank and branch goals and objectives.
Partner with the District Manager to develop and execute strategies for the branch.
Drive individual production goals with target clients and outbound sales activities.
Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines including the Bank Secrecy Act, AML, Regulation CC, and Regulation E.
Promote new business and address complex customer service issues.
Review and reconcile various branch general ledger accounts.
Develop new business relationships and represent Apple Bank in professional associations.
Facilitate employee career growth through development planning and training.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
Promote a positive image of Apple Bank; develop effective business relationships.
Maintain appropriate staffing levels and schedules.
Utilize prudent judgment in transaction approvals.
Apply knowledge of applicable banking laws and regulations.
Recommend systems and procedural changes to senior management.
Participate in the installation and testing of program updates.
Ensure branch facilities and equipment are well maintained.
Delegate work to subordinates and provide guidance when necessary.
Analyze problems and develop strategies for optimum solutions.
Perform other duties as requested.
Skills, Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
7+ years of experience in banking and operations required, with at least 5 years in a management function.
Proven management record, preferably in banking or financial services.
Excellent communication, problem solving, decision making, and time management skills.
Demonstrate effective leadership and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail with a high concern for accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and position-specific software.
Comprehensive knowledge of branch business operations and retail services.
Demonstrated knowledge of e-Commerce, e-Banking, and Branch Banking-related technology.
Ability to manage multiple assignments or situations.
Qualified to be licensed as a Notary Public for the State of New York.
May be required to obtain an insurance license for the sale of approved products.
