The salary range for this role, based in Kentucky is $164,080.00 to $215,355.00. The range will vary if outside of this location. Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a candidate’s experience, skills against internal peers and against the scope and responsibilities of the position.

Position SummaryThe Sr. Director of Direct Procurement oversees and manages the procurement of direct materials used in the production of the company's products. This includes developing and implementing procurement strategies, negotiating contracts with suppliers, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of high-quality materials. The role is responsible for driving efficiency, cost savings, and innovation within the direct materials supply chain, while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

The Sr. Director of Direct Procurement is responsible for integrating sustainability principles into the procurement process. This role involves developing and implementing procurement strategies that prioritize sustainable sourcing practices, reducing environmental impact, and promoting ethical and responsible sourcing of materials.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

Developing and implementing procurement strategies: Creating and executing procurement strategies for direct materials that align with business objectives and sustainability goals

Supplier management: Overseeing relationships with direct materials suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring consistent and high-quality supply

Sustainable sourcing: Leading efforts to integrate sustainable sourcing practices into the procurement process, such as promoting ethical and responsible sourcing, reducing environmental impact, and ensuring compliance with sustainability standards

Cost management: Identifying cost-saving opportunities, optimizing procurement processes, and managing direct materials spend to achieve cost efficiencies

Risk management: Identifying and mitigating risks in the direct materials supply chain, such as supply disruptions, quality issues, or regulatory compliance

Collaboration: Working closely with internal stakeholders such as production, quality, and sustainability teams to align procurement practices with business needs and objectives

Performance measurement and reporting: Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) for direct materials procurement and sustainability practices and reporting on performance to internal and external stakeholders

Innovation and continuous improvement: Identifying opportunities for innovation in direct materials sourcing and procurement processes and driving continuous improvement initiatives

Compliance and ethical practices: Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards, as well as promoting ethical business practices within the supply chain

Leadership and team management: Providing leadership and direction to the direct materials procurement and sustainability team, fostering a positive and high-performance work environment

Establishing, harmonizing, and enforcing procurement policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure cost optimization and efficiency

Actively participating in the Pernod Ricard Procurement transformation: leading development and implementation of best practices, procurement tools and processes, and implementation of global initiatives

Monitoring market trends, pricing, and best practices in procurement to ensure the company remains competitive and innovative

Being an active member of the procurement community: Participating in the sharing of best practices and improvement of various documents (benchmarks, guidelines, monitoring purchasing performance, etc.)

Skills & Requirements

Strategic Sourcing:

Ability to lead strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize supplier relationships, drive cost savings, and mitigate supply chain risks

Supplier Management:

Proficiency in building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring high-quality and sustainable supply of goods and services

Sustainable Procurement:

Experience in integrating sustainable practices into the procurement process, such as promoting ethical sourcing, reducing environmental impact, and supporting local communities

Supply Chain Optimization:

Expertise in streamlining the supply chain to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall sustainability

Cross-functional Collaboration and Influence:

Strong ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders across different departments, such as finance, operations, and sustainability, to align procurement strategies with broader organizational goals

Contract Negotiation:

Advanced negotiation skills to secure favorable contract terms and conditions while ensuring adherence to sustainability and ethical standards

Leadership and Team Management:

Proven leadership experience in managing procurement teams, setting strategic direction, and driving a culture of continuous improvement and sustainability within the function

Change Management:

Ability to drive change and innovation within the procurement function, including the adoption of sustainable practices and the implementation of new procurement technologies

Data Analysis and Decision-Making:

Proficiency in leveraging data and analytics to make informed procurement and sustainability decisions, including identifying cost-saving opportunities, sustainability metrics, and performance tracking

Regulatory Compliance:

Understanding of relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards related to procurement and sustainability, and the ability to ensure compliance across the supply chain

Education

A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, supply chain management, operations, engineering, or a related field is usually required

A master's degree in business administration (MBA) or a related field may be preferred but not always required

Experience

Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, and supply chain management, preferably within the consumer goods, beverage, or related industries.

Strong experience in leading and managing large procurement teams and driving strategic initiatives to optimize procurement processes and achieve cost savings.

Demonstrated experience in sustainability initiatives, such as developing and implementing sustainable sourcing strategies, supplier diversity programs, and environmental impact reduction efforts.

Proven track record of building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier performance to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability goals are met.

Experience in leading cross-functional teams, collaborating with stakeholders across the organization, and driving collaboration between procurement and sustainability functions.
