A Building Code Consultant works regularly with applicable building codes and standards in both the design and construction fields.As a member of the Building Code & Life Safety Services group, this position will require working collaboratively with other staff to review and interpret the code for the purpose of providing plan review, inspection, and general code consultation.Job duties will include working independently on reviews, participating in internal review meetings, and attending client and jurisdictional meetings. Direct interaction with clients and participation in business development activities may be necessary but is not required.ResponsibilitiesPerform code reviewsPerform code inspectionsPrepare written reportsProvide code opinions based on experience and available resourcesCommunicate with clients and applicants to facilitate open dialogue necessary to bring code comments to resolutionPrepare proposals and assist in business developmentPrepare and present presentations on code-related topicsPerform reviews and quality control on deliverablesMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or science fields is preferred2+ years of experience in architecture, engineering, or municipal code enforcementNYS Code Enforcement Certification is preferredICC Certifications are preferredPhysical Requirements:Travel to and from job sitesWork in a construction environmentStanding for long periods of timeWalking short/long distancesSalary Range:

($30 - $40/hr.)
